That's right. Emerald is being replaced by a new decorator.

You can use different images, or change those that come with the applet. The defaults are located in /usr/share/windowbuttons

I don't experience this problem though. Please keep me posted. - May 07 2009

Did you add both parameters to ./configure like mentioned under "Installation"?
Also, do you have the build-essential package installed? - May 05 2009

Yes, that was my mistake. I wrote the instructions wrong, but fixed them later. Please look at the new instructions.

Hehe, thanks :)

But in reality I've got more plans. Here's a preview of what I wanna do:

~ Button rendering according to user's current Metacity theme (This isn't going to be easy, but I'll try.. might need some help though)

~ I'm gonna make another applet that displays the window title.

~ Option to automatically remove the decoration on maxed windows.

>> The next logical step in my mind would be to have an option to have the applet take the button icons from the metacity theme.

You can already do that in gconf-editor, so I'm not sure if the applet should mess with it. I could perhaps add a "Remove Metacity's buttons" option.

>> Also, if you can't figure out Gconf, why not just use a flat config file until you can get it working with Gconf? That's what I would do anyway, just a suggestion.

I've thought about it, but I still plan on figuring out GConf, so I don't wanna double my work.

On a side-note, I've just discovered another behavioral bug. I need to fix that first.

Well, if you modified the script then it probably didn't do everything it should have.
Unfortunately I need more information to be able to help you. Send me your AIM/MSN/ICQ/GTalk/Skype/whatever address in a private message and we can try to sort this out.
We can talk about the translation too.

Thanks!

I do agree with you, the minimize and maximize buttons aren't that important. The 'x' button is what makes it useful. You no longer have to aim for it, just slide your mouse in the corner and click. - Apr 29 2009

Plasma 4 Extensions by svenstorp 129 comments

If you want to compile this on Kubuntu Intrepid 8.10, you will need some dependencies. To spare people from googling for every single missing file, this is what you have to install:

sudo apt-get install kdelibs5-dev libplasma-dev kdebase-workspace-dev - Oct 25 2008

Well it's more than that.

1. You need to scale down the images of the button images you wish to use (found in "/usr/share/vistamenu/Buttons")
2. Then you must correct some values in "/usr/lib/vistamenu/Images.py"
In the version 1.0.7 they are at line 114. For a 24pixel menu I've set them accordingly:
StartButtonTopWidth = 30
StartButtonTopHeight = 6
StartButtonXOffset = 1
StartButtonYOffset = -6
(but if I zoom in it still feels like sth is not right, someone please correct this) - May 10 2008

Does anyone know how to modify this theme to work on a 24-pixel panel. I know this is supposed to be a work in progress, but couldn't there be a simple hack to do this? - May 04 2008
