Microsoft spent millions of dollars finding a windowing theme that would appeal to people. If we can simply design a theme for KDE that looks similiar to XP then people will feel more comfortable moving from Microsoft Windows XP to KDE. Besides, when you install this theme alongside and microsoft office it can really wierd people out! - Jul 12 2002

I am taking begining unix classes at a local college. Most of the computers are running Linux with x windows starting by default. Of those who immediatly started using X windows machines this was the split between those who used KDE and those who used Gnome.

13 People started using KDE
7 People started using Gnome

Also note that there was no default X windows selected on login. At the end of the class I again tallied the number of people using diffrent window managers.

11 People used KDE at the end.
9 People used Gnome at the end.

So with all the argueing its just a personal choice, niether Gnome or KDE is winning by any great stride. - Jul 12 2002
