Granted, this isn't bad by your standards, I just don't think it's very good. It's a picture of a girl that looks like she's completely depressed, with some lines, text, and shaded blue. While that may be technically good, I know a lot of people who wouldn't like it. The voting system serves many purposes, but most importantly it lets the majority voice their opinion. While I wish it required a login to prevent some abuse, voting something negativly does not constitute abuse. I don't like this particular image, I would never use it as a background, I am provided a means to express my opinion by voting. Just because something is "technically good," doesn't mean it looks good. Personally, I don't want a girl who looks like she's about to down 3 bottles of sleeping pills sitting on my desktop. But, we're all entitled to our opinions. - Jun 29 2003
Matrix K

Well, Warner Bros. of course!

Great wallpaper, I really like this one. I know it's just a K on the Matrix background...but hey, it's well done. Really like this one, it's become my login background. - Jun 11 2003

KDE 3.0-3.4 Themes by raf 11 comments

If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that. Sometimes I like good old xinit, other times I like a full fledged over-flowing-with-eyecandy desktop. To each his own. Posts like this have no place in a site whose banner image says "eyecandy for your kde-desktop."

This theme is great, I wish I wasn't stuck using XP for school right now so I could use this full time. Great job. - May 22 2003

InnerSpace -- Xcursors

Cursors by smeat 5 comments

I haven't gotten cursors to work properly yet, but it's really easy to update X, just go to SuSE's website and find the link to their ftp server, not much after that :). The install was somewhat of a pain, until I read the problems after that. Now if only I could get the cursors to install... - Mar 06 2003

I tried all of those, downloaded again, still no luck. I don't know what's wrong. I'll try later on, maybe that will somehow yield different results...thanks anyway. - Mar 04 2003

...for me. I can't even extract the set. I've downloaded three times now, so I'm doubting the problem is on my end...could the archive be corrupt?

exact error I get is the ever discriptive and helpful "not in gzip format."

Yay for errors :). Any help? - Mar 04 2003

Not In My Name

I really have to disagree with you on one point. You say flat out "Very few people understand the true nature of the American dynamic..." as much as I don't want to turn this thread into a political debate, I suppose it already is to some extent, I have to ask this: who are you to say you understand the true nature of the "American dynamic" and others do not? I do not believe in this soon-to-be-if-not-already-war at all, but comments such as that only serve to expose the "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality all too many people have. All I'm saying is that this post can be considered insulting. I'm also not saying you don't have the right to post this, just try to not get so upset when others disagree with you since you are expressing your right to disagree.

Just my 2 cents.

Shutdown Logo

Various Stuff by th.cherouny 6 comments

You not only have to login with kdm, but you need to go through the kde control center under system to change settings to allow any user to shutdown the system. The default for my distribution was for any user to shut the system down, I switched it off through this, so it is definitly an option somewhere under the system category, probably in the login manager section (assuming you use kdm...I'm also speaking 3.0.x here, but I think I saw it in the 2.x also) - Jan 14 2003

If you want to make it blue, it's really simple. Open up the file in gimp, then, right click anywhere on the "canvas" and go through the menu's like this: image -> colors -> hue-saturation. Now slide the hue bar in either direction to make it whatever color you want. I've done this with many wallpapers, styles and splashes with no problems. If you don't like how some of the colors come out though, then play around with it until you like it. Hope this helps someone. - Jan 13 2003

Yeah, I'm sick of script kiddies "hacking" stupid stuff. I'm tired of "31337 h4X0rS" trying to get into my computer. Long live the classic Unix hacker. - Nov 12 2002
