... or maybe not.

It seems, if I toggle the coasting checkbox until I cannot coast anymore (which usually happens when the checkbox is enabled), and exit the KCM module, the checkbox will be disabled when I open it again. The opposite happens if I toggle the checkbox until I can coast again, which is usually when the checkbox is disabled; when I close and reopen the KDM module, the checkbox is enabled again.

Strange -- I'll see if I can figure it out, but wouldn't mind if someone more knowledgeable with the application than I am beats me to a solution. - Oct 07 2009
This patch seems to fix my problem, but is more of a workaround than a solution:

Could you add an option in the config dialog that allows window scrolling with a mouse wheel to be enabled/disabled? I use a laptop as my primary PC, and it's far too easy to trigger the scrolling effect accidentally by getting close to the scrolling region of my touch pad while mousing over the Plasmoid (although Smooth Tasks isn't nearly as troublesome as the Desktop Pager). - Aug 23 2009
You can already do this with the "Thumbnail Aside" effect. Just enable it, and set the "Keep window thumbnails" option to "Always" under the "Advanced" configuration tab. - Aug 20 2009
As far as the old layout goes, I personally like it better than the new one; the new layout has too much padding around the window previews for my taste, but that's only an opinion. I really like the way you only display the X icon when the previews are hovered over and how the titles are scrolled when they are moused over, those are really pretty slick features!

Also, I have created an Arch Linux PKGBUILD for Smooth Tasks here: - Aug 19 2009

You did a good job on the splash screen -- thanks for your contribution!

P.S. From my experiences (notice the "plurality" of "experiences"), there is a much greater chance we came from an intelligent Creator than randomly having macro-evolved into the complexity that is the human species from nonliving matter that was spawned from a tiny, incredibly dense ball of mass which decided one day to explode and create the universe and had to have existed for all eternity in order for it to have even "been" -- which I find highly unlikely; Atheism, although it strides to completely disassociate itself from religion, requires an awful lot of faith. - Jun 30 2009

You might get a better response from developers if you created a nearly complete mockup of the different widgets available -- such as those from here:; currently, you are missing some critical components such as tabs, sliders, and scrollbars. It would probably even be a good idea to post the different mockups in your thread on the Ubuntu Forums (and/or, where people could vote on which they liked best and suggest improvements. This theme would have a good chance of fruition if you could form a community around it.

I'm not sure if you can fix this, or if it's a KWin/Plasma bug, but the Task Manager on each Desktop instance of the Desktop Cube and Grid displays the list of running tasks of the Desktop that was active before the effect was initiated. Could you implement a fix that would allow each Desktop to display its own running tasks? I tried requesting this around the release of KDE 4.0, but got a "will not implement" response. - Mar 21 2009
I have a bug report and 3 feature requests :)

Bug report -> Choosing to have all the tasks on my current desktop expanded causes plasma to crash after clicking the icon of one of a group of multiple windows of the same application (i.e. Kate).

Feature request (1) -> Please increase the height of the rectangle surrounding highlighted tasks (those active and/or moused over); on my taskbar, highlighted tasks are about 1 or 2 pixels shorter than the others.

Feature request (2) -> Allow any of a group of windows to be minimized, if it is active, by clicking its thumbnail or list entry -- otherwise, just activate the window.

Feature request (3) -> Allow the number of windows per group to be displayed on each group's icon (like the old task manager).

There doesn't seem to be anything quite like Advisor for Linux; Sysinfo comes closest, but its your project. Maybe I'll just add it to my todo list of future projects... - Jul 07 2008
P.S. Sysinfo is awesome! - Jul 06 2008
To me, it would be great if Sysinfo could include more detailed information about the hardware I have installed, such as not only the amount of RAM my computer has and how much of that is used/free, but also who made the RAM, the RAM's type, in which DIMM slot each module is located, and each module's speed. Some other devices that would be great to have more information on are motherboards and hard drives.

dmidecode will output much of that extra information, but it requires root access (at least in my current distro) and is not very convenient to use.

If you're interested in such a feature, I'm willing to assist its development. I'm not yet much a programmer, but would help any way I could. - Jul 06 2008 Setup

Ah, that worked! I googled qlist.h and found it to be part of the "libqt3-compat-headers" package, which I then installed. I ran "./configure" and "make" again and ran into the error:

error: hd.h: No such file or directory

So, I googled it too, and found it to be part of the "hwinfo" package - which I had installed. I used Synaptic (currently searches more thoroughly than Adept) to search for everything with the keyword "hwinfo", and found I didn't have the "libhd13-dev" package installed; I installed it and compiled Setup again, and VOILA! It worked!

Yet again, if it is possible, it would be nice if Krusader would incorporate a feature allowing the user to open kioslaves for Konqueror; it already provides the Konqueror menu. - Sep 21 2007
Also, I think it would be nice if, when entering Krusader Root Mode, that instead of opening another window, it would open it in the same window and provide an option to end Krusader Root Mode and return to normal mode.

There seems to be a bug with the terminal emulator; it allows you to create a new tab but the tab doesn't actually switch, it just seems to open a renamed, duplicate link to the original one - i.e. if during installation of an app, you open another tab in the terminal, it continues showing the progress of the original tab and does not allow you to do anything until the first is complete.

Overall, ignoring minor bugs and whatnot, I give Krusader a 10/10; it's definitely the best file manager I've ever used. - Sep 21 2007
Krusader is awesome; I just wish it would incorporate a feature that would change the current directory view to the directory the user cd's into the terminal. The terminal cd's to any directory the user navigates to in the directory view, but the directory view does not navigate to any directory cd'd into the terminal. I just think this would be a nice additional feature. - Sep 20 2007
