Amarok

Re #2.

In aumix, there is a line for "PCM" and one for "Vol". Vol ups all volumes across the board, while PCM simply controls wav/mp3 type outputs. In amaroK, the volume control either functions to its own (inside the program only), or can control the PCM volume.

In XMMS, I can use OSS (or alsa through a bit of finagling) to have volume control the master not just the PCM.

I'd very much like the option to control the master output as opposed to just PCM. - Mar 17 2004

Amarok is an awesome application, but it still needs a few things.

First: an easily configurable equalizer like xmms. I love my equalizer settings in xmms, and hope that a true graphing equalizer will be implemented in the future.

2: The ability for the volume control to control the master volume. Right now, you can switch between an intra-program volume, and PCM volume. The ability to switch it to control the master output would be a welcome addition.

3: Themes. This is a minor issue, but would still be great to have.

4. Having the playlist dock with the main program... or be a part of it, ala itunes.

5. Every time I open amarok, it restarts at the beginning of my playlist (despite the fact that I have my music set for random.) After it places the number 1 song, it starts random play again, however. If it would START on a random song too that would be great.

All of these are relatively minor issues. Overall, 2 thumbs up. - Mar 16 2004

M4v3r1ck Monitor Tool

You use absolute file locations in multiple places to locate your additional scripts. Not everyone stores their files in the same locations as you do. Variable names would work better.

Also, the 'Total eth traffic' box appears to have some sort of small memory leak. It takes about about 10-15% of my processor cycles alone (2600+)

And traffic has 2 'f''s

Overall, very nice. - Feb 08 2004

Version 0.4 is awesome. I want to thank you for implementing the features you did!

This is a wonderful application and is an excellent tool.

I'm not sure how involved you want the program to be, but implementing a bandwidth usage graph like in xnetload or like in the tmon extension of superkaramba would be really neat and useful. Although I am unsure how difficult coding something of that sort would be. - Jan 30 2004

This is an entirely unrelated question. In the KDE System tray, how does one get rid of the frame that is drawn around the tray like in your screenshot? - Jan 27 2004

Again, let me say, this is a great application, and I recognize it is only in the beta testing phases, but I do have one feature request.

The application appears to be using the direct output from /sbin/ifconfig for RX and TX bytes and does not appear to be converting for Mbytes. Can that be implemented in a future release?

Also, just a random question... RX and TX bytes. When does that information reset? Does it reset on reboot? Or does it reset itself by logging out of KDE? - Jan 27 2004

First of all, this is a wonderful application. I've been looking for something like this since the day I first switched to linux. I like to keep track of my data transfer, and 'xnetload' just isn't cutting it (I really wanted either a superkaramba applet or a tray icon.) You've done it!

You've given me just what I need, however, when I installed, it did not go into the correct location.

I had to use the prefix command and specify that ktraynetworker install to '/usr/local' so that it would show up in the kde application path and I wouldn'd have to navigate to the directory manually to start it.

I'm using SuSE 9, if that makes a difference.

All in all, a great application.

If an icon theme cam with it by default that would be great - Jan 27 2004
Liquid Weather ++

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

I live in Boone, North Carolina, USA (area code 28608), and Liquid Weather is no longer loading content for my area code like it always has. This happened before I updated to 1.9 (I updated just to see if this would fix it, but it did not.)

Everything used to work fine, but now I cannot load weather data for Boone NC, Hickory NC, Blowing Rock NC, and several other western carolina cities I have tried.

I ran superkaramba from the terminal and when I put in my zip code, it definitely fetches the information, but it does not update it in liquid weather. Reloading does not fix this problem, as it will just default back to whatever previous zip code I had that actually worked.

Has weather.com changed their script? What could I be doing wrong? - Jan 26 2004
