on white themes that does not matter so much, but it is ultra-ugly on dark themes. it is possible to remove them, check my theme! - Jan 05 2009

but it def. will work with svn-version 0.6.
try if the theme 'dust' works on your machine.. if not than update your murrine-engine. good luck - Jan 03 2009

but it is fixed now!
I will upload it soon along with other fixes around weekend or begin next week..
the process-bar is too dark, that is true, like the scroll-bars it is an interim solution, but i am working on it..
and will be fixed in 0.7
if u see more i should know, just tell let me know!..

you are right: scrollbars have to be changed and they will. this is an interim solution till i got the time to do them with inkscape or with murrine, but the last things i tried were not nice. so this is indeed a weak point.
and yes, i am really trying hard to take care of nice contrasts, that is were the most work goes, but you will still find occasionally a semi-white button with white text, especially on web-sites,
i am working on it though and think to have fixed this issues with release version 0.7
thx for your time :)

just do the following:
-
open the appearance-manager and switch to a working theme,
-
open a terminal and start gcalctool
-
open the appearance-manager and switch to the greyhound-theme
-
what do you read on the terminal?
paste that info here and i will be able to have a look..
also, my other question:
did u try other new murrine-themes, like dust? are they working on your sys?

there were some bleeding new murrine specific options that are infact not used in this theme, so i uncommented them. it should work now with standard murrine-engine.. if not please report. - Dec 17 2008

GTK2 Themes by JohnnyJu 79 comments
than change the theme to TheGreyHoundTheme and read in the terminal what it says?
- Dec 17 2008

GTK2 Themes by JohnnyJu 79 comments

can u pls try that one and tell me what happens?
thx - Dec 17 2008

GTK2 Themes by JohnnyJu 79 comments

download link works fine here..
but than my location is in europe and you are in the usa? perhaps there is something wrong?
otherwise try another computer near you. perhaps something's wrong with your security-settingssss...!?
good luck - Dec 08 2008

GTK2 Themes by JohnnyJu 79 comments
the tar is what you downloaded.
to install it you simply need to tell your theme-manager to install it by pointing to the file you downloaded, it will untar it and put the content under ~/.themes
otherwise just untar it yourself to /.themes

the errors are connected to murrine-engines. i seem to have the latest actually, i just forgot that in the mean-time... that is why here i got no errors. but anyway, it is save to uncomment those options, they are not in use... i will include that in the next release around weekend.
thanks a lot! - Dec 08 2008

so i would say it is well done, but reminds me too much of the vista theme... - Dec 08 2008

I checked arround and it looks like your error-message is coming from the "colorize_scrollbar" option, which is a feature of the newest murrine.
0.53 is old. in the newest ubuntu we have 0.6XXX installed because of dust and other new themes.
you would have therefore two choices:
1)uncomment the sentence nr.84 in gtkrc with a # like this:
# colorize_scrollbar = TRUE # FALSE = disabled, TRUE = enabled
or
2) get the newest murrine-engine from svn, this would open you the doors for lots of other new murrine-themes aswell:
before you follow this instructions, be aware that those are for ubuntu, but if you are a bit familiar it should show you the way aswell.. so do it with caution at your own risk:
you should uninstall your gtk2-engine-murrine 0.53 pckg. you should also have everything one needs to compile, like autoconf tools etcetc..
i highly recommend checkinstall instead of make install,
checkinstall keeps your system clean and you can easely find and uninstall your self-compiled packages under synaptic.
$ sudo apt-get install subversion build-essential libtool autoconf
libgtk2.0-dev checkinstall
$ mkdir development && cd development
$ svn checkout http://svn.gnome.org/svn/murrine/trunk/ murrine
$ cd murrine
$ ./autogen.sh --enable-animation --prefix=/usr
$ make
$ sudo checkinstall -D --fstrans=no
you need to go through the checkinstall-wizard inside the terminal and correct the name and version, otherwise it will abort.
it is very easy as the wizard is well done.
i named it "gtk2-engines-murrine" and set version to "0.6".
you will end up with a nice build and installed .deb package which you can uninstall at anytime via synaptic.
good luck

the buttons are made by myself, i thought we need something new, not mac-ish not win-sh, not gtk-ish, etc...
they are basically transparent layers, which makes compatibility possible with any web-site or any app...
I am going to improve this theme more, just come back in the future! thx - Dec 01 2008
