Wow, thanks for the deb! Unfortunately I am using the 64-bit version of Ubuntu so it doesn't work. Do you by any chance know where I can get a 64-bit deb? I've never had much success trying to compile it myself. - Oct 07 2009

The theme manager says that I need Aurora but seems to work ok without it. It that a bug or does it actually require Aurora? Sorry, don't have time to install Aurora to check.

Thanks - Oct 07 2009

The light version looks great! Its definitely not too dark. I think maybe the window border could be a little darker, but I'll leave that up to you.

Thanks again for working on this!

Thanks for making the lighter version :)

It certainly solves the problems I was having with it! I think could use some more tweaking though, but not quite sure what...

I think since you have a darker panel (which I like a lot) than themes like Shiki-colors, that the metacity doesn't have to be as quite as light as you made it (Although it could be made to look nice as is).

If you want to keep the current shade I think the menu font needs to be lighter, but I'm not sure you could accomplish this in Firefox without the Firefox CSS "hack" unless you changed the main menu background to white - you probably know more about this limitation than me. You might not want to go that route because of that issue.

Also, the gradient for the menu bar background strikes me as odd - I think maybe it should be more subtle or gradual...but I'm not really sure. I suppose I should whip out Gimp myself and experiment... :) I might get time later.

Also, I really like the new active tabs! Sometimes I feel like its too much gray though.... Maybe for the blue theme, for instance, they should have a blue shade (just an idea)!

I think having separation would improve usability. It seems that I can't tell at a glance what is panel and what is window: I found myself grabbing the panel a couple of times when trying to move a window that was up against it. This might not be a problem with a lighter metacity.

I think the darker themes I mentioned have solved the problem by putting a 1 pixel lighter colored line along the top of window border.

It might be just me though, so you probably want to get input from other people as well :) - Jun 05 2009

I think this theme is awesome, and has a lot of potential. I particularly like the metacity minimize, maximize, and exit button design.

Most of these issues may only be related to my laptop LCD screen (on a Dell Inspiron 1420), nonetheless here they are:

-It is hard to distinguish the active tab in Firefox from the others.
-I think there needs to be more separation (maybe color or contrast-wise) between the metacity and the panel.
-Related to the above, the dark black of the Metacity makes it so that I cannot see the gradient except from a sharp angle on my screen. I would suggest lightening it up a little. Some darker themes that seem to handle this well are Shiki-colors and New Wave.

Maybe you could make a lighter version for testing?

Your icon set shares the same problem that the gnome-human icon set has. The bug causes bookmarked folders listed in the Menu Bar Places dropdown to be replaced with the standard Gnome folder icons.

I quit using the gnome-human set for this very reason. If you can fix this bug, I would be extremely happy! - Mar 14 2009

Visiting this page by following the "download whole package" link on the Emerald theme causes you to automatically vote "good." The same goes for the emerald theme! After clicking "Download Emerald theme" you automatically vote up that theme as well! (For more details as to how the author managed to set this up, see the comments on the emerald theme.)

This is outrageous. I sure hope has some sort of ethics policy here.

In all actuality though, this website should not have such a gaping security hole in the first place.... - Dec 18 2008

This looks nice, but I think it would be much more convenient if Cimi's metacity was packaged along with your theme. - Nov 12 2008

This is very nice! Do you think you could improve on it to make it detect and use the system language? For example, in U.S. English (at least) SISTEMA should be SYSTEM.

Thanks a lot!

Could you create an Eclipse icon? The current Eclipse release doesn't come packaged with an icon, and I haven't been able to find a nice one to use with the Gnome-Colors icon set.

Thank you! - Oct 24 2008

I like this theme much better with the Human theme window background and tooltips colors (see below). Even though the current colors match well, they come across as way too dark for me.

Window background: #EFEBE7
Tooltips background: #F5F5B5

Here's my desktop with the changes:

I personally think these changes, coupled with fixes for Firefox (lighter text for the menu dropdowns) would make an awesome replacement for the current Human theme. - Sep 15 2008

I also think the instructions tooltip is somewhat annoying. It probably isn't necessary to have it since anyone with enough Linux experience to install this theme would be able to easily login without help.
Thanks for an otherwise AWESOME GDM theme! - Sep 10 2008

I usually use a panel height between 26 and 32 pixels, Could you possibly provide a version with larger panels or make it automatically adjust (I've seen this done, however I'm not sure how it is accomplished.)

You need better (higher quality) screenshots. That might help improve the rating....I don't think it is just the word Vista that is bringing the score down.

Wow! This theme works really well. I'm not sure if it's the engine it uses or what, but it runs much faster on my computer than any other one I've tried.

I do have one concern though: I can't tell which workspace I'm on. The white edged box stays on the 1st workspace even when I move to another. I think it would be much better if it moved to represent the current workspace.

Thanks! - Feb 07 2008

This is the first theme that I have found that I have been able to stick with! I have a minor issue though - the CPU frequency scaling monitor doesn't have white text when I add it to the panel. Is it possible to fix this?

My panels are solid black - the background image isn't applied - even with the pixbuf package installed. Does the pixmap engine also have to be installed also? It isn't installed in synaptic.

Very nice theme though!
