System Software by Lapinot 9 comments

I really like it, but I had trouble using it for installing downloaded .deb's. still have to use Kpackage for that (while apt can't do it itself, I know dpkg can)

When will we have an graphical package manager for debian that can install local files AND solve dependencies for it???

mandrake's urpmi can, but I hate the fact apt-get can't. can you make it work???

or am I doing something wrong... ???

anyway, thanks for the work, I am sure this prog will rock...

but maybe you can make kpackage better instead of writing a whole new app? altough I like the interface of this tool...

and another thing - after first start, it gives an empty body. you might put some buttons there: "upgrade" "install software" etc.

and when installing, it'd be nice if there whould be an list to choose from...

yep cool app ;-) - Mar 23 2004

Allah wouldnt like it?

I mean, I think He agrees that its pretty pathetic if you can't forgive.

Quite childish', but alas - the muslim culture has had its best time (a few hundreds of years ago - imho in the middle ages (500-1500 AD) the muslim culture was (far) ahead on the western.)

but the splash isnt very ugly, although the idea it displays is archaic. - Mar 02 2004

amerika isn't kapitalistic, they just THINK that.

In a kapitalistic system, which runs optimal (and isnt kapitalism all about optimalism?):
- something like M$ whould be impossible.
- Everyone should be able to perform at his maximum -> so everyone should have equal access to very good education -> everyone should have easy access to very good health care -> etc etc

So I think europe comes closer to 'true' kapitalism.

Exept the part where they "waste" money on non-productive ppl (elderly and handicapped).

But if you should add "humanistic" or "ethical" to kapitalism (and those words can fit in, if you want them to), kapitalism can be both optimal (performance-wise) and human. - Feb 08 2004

I allways wanted the scrollers like this (as a feedback about which area is scrollable - so just the config dialog is a bit outdated (i'm very lazy on working on it - if it was up to me, you would edit your qtrc with a texteditor (ok - in fact it's up to me, but i'm not that kind of sadist)
(the "hovered" scrollers are currently highlighted - if i wouldn't be so lazy, i'd add a fourth option - maybe i will do so next release)

well, then, we might simply disagree. but of course, its no problem - I just set the 'hovered' color the same as the 'slider' color. so you dont have to add any options :P

I guess, you mean the part of kicker, where the currant apps are displayed as buttons? they follow the listviewheaders (as they ARE in a way listviewheaders (qt internal)).
if you check smooth lvh, you'll get kinda tube (but still rectangular shaped) - did you mean, you'd like to have them round shaped?

well... ehm... yes! ;-)
so they are more like normal buttons. maybe the way they where in mosfet's liquid...

next reply:

do you mean the comboboxes???
they mainly follow content size and have a minimum heigt of 27 px (i think - will have to view code to be sure)

yep, I meant them. in other looks, they are a bit smaller, aren they? but its just a few pix, I dont really worry about that ;-)
wheren't mosfets comboboxes a bit smaller? (me unsure...)

well... uhmmm... apple's sliders are exactly 13 px wide
(configurable size will last a bit - well: a big bit) as i will have to fract them like the buttons to avoid slow resize functions...
(i'll try to find another solution)

Thank you!! esp on higher res. you can easily miss them...

tnx for all the work, I really apreciate it! - Dec 11 2003

"Fearfully Made"

Wallpaper Other by timbrown527 49 comments

hmmm, checked faith to action.

remembered me of the following mail, I recieved some time ago. it was directed at Laura Schlessinger, someone who gives advice to ppl on the USA radio. she told homosexuallity is wrong, should be forbidden etc on ground of the bible (Leviticus 18:22). this is what someone wrote her:

ear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding
God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and I try to share
that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend
the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus
18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some
advice from you, however, regarding some of the specific laws and how to
follow them.

a) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1 :9). The problem is my neighbours. They
claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21
:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I
tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female,
provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine
claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify?
Why can't I own Canadians?

e) I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2
clearly states he should be put to death Am I morally obligated to kill him

f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I
don't agree. Can you settle this?

g) Lev. 21 :20 states that 'I may not approach the altar of God if I have a
defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my
vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around
their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How
should they die?

i) I know from Lev. 11 :6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me
unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different
crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two
different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse,
and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of
getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16) Couldn't we
just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people
who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)?

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can
help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and
unchanging. Your devoted disciple and adoring fan.

now you see how pathetic it is to take the old testament literally. thats just stupid. the new laws from the new testament (just 2: love God above all, and your neighbour as yourself) replace all other (old) laws. - Dec 10 2003

imho the selectionfields/combination bars whatever they are called (dropdown bars? another try ;-) I only know dutch word) are quite large. maybe you can make them smaller (only height, the with is ok for me)

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1262 comments

once again, wonderfull theme, I begin to like it more and more.
but I guess I found a bug (still using the 0.3 version!):
the 'hovered' color for the sliders already appear if your mouse is in the part of the screen the scrollbar belongs to. guess it only has to appear when you really hover the slider? this way several sliders (euh, two, right & bottom) can be 'hovered' (at least the color is the 'hovered' color).

and the second thing: I asked to round buttons, and tnx, you did! but eeej, the buttons on the taskbar are still rectangled. I like to have them rounded too... ;-)

tnx in advance, and keep up the good work! - Dec 10 2003
