This was just a very old version of Clearlooks (from two years before!) with Compiz' default window decorations (before Compiz was compatible with Metacity themes). - Aug 21 2009

dude, this theme is impressive. It looks unique/distinctive, sleek, and it's compatible with everything I threw at it.

I would heartily recommend that you talk to Andrea Cimitan and see if your theme could be an official theme included by default in gnome. It has potential to rock.

I am using the clearlooks-only version, haven't tried the murrine svn one. - Sep 26 2008

it's a nice theme. I would recommend using a tar.gz archive format instead of tar.bz2, that way users can use the "Add" button in gdmsetup to install directly from the archive.

Converting from bzip2 to gzip by using file-roller's "Save as" feature worked for me. - Apr 14 2008

actually, I was also suggesting to not have an archive inside another archive... Is the readme that important (since you can put those infos here or on your page)?

If you only provided kamel.tar.gz (the one that is inside the current archive you distribute), users could just "drag and drop" in the theme/appearance window (or use the "install" button). - Nov 02 2007

Hello, thanks for making a 0.2 release today! I just wanted to say that your package has a bug, an icon theme folder name must not contain spaces. Doing this will fix the problem:

jeff@kaname:~/.icons$ mv Kamel\ alpha\ 0.2/ kamel

So, your package should contain ONLY a directory named "kamel" with the index.theme and the "scalable" subdirectories. That way, it will be handled properly by the gnome appearance manager. - Nov 02 2007

I have actually stopped using my own icon theme pretty much since the Tango project started bringing nice crisp icons onto my desktop (and now I love the new official GNOME icons too), and since gnome's icon naming conventions are subject to change for freedesktop compliance, it is possible that it broke for gnome 2.20.

I haven't actually tested, and I don't actually have the time and inclination to maintain this theme anymore (especially when Tango + gnome icons are so nice and complete in my opinion), as I mentionned at the top of this page. So if anyone wants to pick up the ownership of this theme and fix it, drop me a line :) - Sep 04 2007

oh, that one was not a theme per se, it was the window borders from an old version of Compiz. Compiz now uses the metacity window border themes nowadays, so you should look at this instead: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Compiz+Express?content=37636 - Aug 21 2007

I re-uploaded a fixed version of 3.3 (new md5sum: fa4eda9c112acc51de2ee34e6174f2c3). I think it should fix the trash icon for real now.

I also added a dependency on hicolor and removed the gpm battery icon.

About the trash not being transparent on the panel: sorry but that's most likely a bug on your side, mine (gnome 2.18 though) works fine with the transparent background. - Mar 16 2007

it looks nice overall, just want to point you that tabs in certain applications such as Epiphany (GNOME's default web browser) look a bit weird, but this is alpha, and I guess you knew that bug existed already. Also, as soon as I use the themes, my gnome panel flashes as it kinda tries to restart itself infinitely; maybe that's because I did not use the Menu Bar Trick? Hope this helps you. good, I like it :) however, there is a strange issue: I found the thumbnail "better" than the full size one.

Maybe that's because in the thumbnail you can't see the fresnel effect.

What I'd like to see would be a version made out of it that would be "smoother", with less contrasted elements, and possibly in blue, brown, orange too. I don't know how it would look like. For example, currently there is a stripe near the middle-left that is very very bright, it's slightly disturbing, maybe that's just me. - Dec 17 2006

my thanks, your theme is truly awesome. It's classy and fast, and it makes my menus huge ;) (good for some beginners on whose computers I install Linux). Hmmm. GNOME must have changed the naming stuff again in 2.16. If I look at /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/places and status, I can see the trash can as "user-trash" and "user-trash-full". I guess I will have to make another release sometime soon to fix the list of bugs that accumulated. Well it's mixed, some icons do not come from the mac OS. Apple put a copyright on its icons (from my googling), but I did not extract them directly from a mac myself. I only took them from other existing themes (on osx-e.com). - Oct 15 2006

Wallpapers Ubuntu by ciccioa 1 comment

Generally good, but here are a few criticisms:
- "dapper drake" is written: it does not mean so much, and in six months, your wallpaper will be useless
- if you still keep it, I suggest maybe something other than plain yellow, it's out of phase with the ubuntu palette (brownish, orange) and with the blue background...

Great potential though! - Mar 31 2006
