Well, I install this by dragging and dropping in the Theme Manager window. It usually works. I just tried.

If it does not for some obscure reason, you can decompress the archive into either:

~/.icons/
or
/usr/share/icons/ - Mar 02 2006

I sometimes use just plain Clearlooks. In the "black white and green" one, it's "Mockup" for the GTK theme, and "Human" for the metacity theme. - Mar 02 2006

Wow, you just found a bug :) I fixed it. The file has been updated. If you don't want to download the whole theme again, just go to scalable/apps/ and rename "thunderbird.png" to "mozilla-thunderbird.png" - Feb 15 2006

Yeah, and why not amarok, gimp, leafpad, bash, and so on? ;)

(Just in case you were serious and did not know, Firefox does NOT integrate into GNOME and you have to use Firefox themes to change the icons.)

For a KDE version, as I do not use KDE myself, you guys would have to tell me what goes where or something. Besides, this is gnome-look.org no? ;) - Dec 23 2005

If I knew how, I would already have added it. So try finding that out, otherwise I can't help you.

I'm also looking for the icons for "network places" when you have more than 5 network mounts. I have not seen any theme be able to use it, could anyone tell where the f... it is?

I should also add some "loading thumbnail" icon on the next update. But I need to figure out those issues first. - Dec 23 2005

hmmm... that is very strange, I have been able to install it myself on every machine I have simply by dragging the tar.gz onto the main theme manager window... don't know why you are having problems :|

About the sound icons not scaling so well: hmm, I should fix that I guess when I have a minute or two... if there are other flaws just tell me, it would make the update worthwhile.

How to change your folder icon if you can't stand the "mac" ones (I think I'll do that for myself actually ;) :

go to the folder where your icon theme is installed and into the filesystems icons directory, for example ~/.icons/OSX/scalable/filesystems
find a 128x128 pixels PNG that you would like as a folder icon
replace gnome-fs-directory.png, gnome-fs-directory-hover.png and gnome-fs-directory-accept.png with whatever you like

I just updated the file download. It seems I have mixed up versions or something, the volume icons were not included. Sorry about that ! About the license, I don't exactly know because it is mixed content: GPL (some complementary things from Tango, Humility, etc), and PNGs taken from osx-e.com, so I changed that to LGPL meanwhile. I am not sure on this issue. What I am sure of, though, is that I want a complete theme for myself that I love to use, and by the same occasion, share that with others instead of just duplicating work and having 20 incomplete themes lying around. - Nov 25 2005

Hey there, please tell me if that update fixes things up :)

Barem : thanks, that helped a lot. But now, the number of icons in devices/ doubled ! I am beginning to wonder why there are so much. I really need some complete "strict standarts" icon map. - Nov 24 2005

Hi, thanks for the comments :) about KDE: well I don't personnally use it, and I don't know how to make themes for KDE or the naming scheme (I don't even know the GNOME naming scheme! :). If you want them to be integrated, maybe we could do so by creating links instead of duplicating too much icons? You would have to give me what links to what though.

About the CDRW/DVD±RW/DVD/etc device icons, I am aware they do not show up. Actually I don't know how to fix them yet. Could anybody help me with figuring out their names? I have searched for weeks on the Internet, and I was not able to find a proper website to know what icon does what in GNOME. I mean, it's a total mess! :) I would be interested to clean that up, but I need some help figuring it out. Or complete references (that means a very extensive list of the icon names and what they actually do... for every icon in the system). - Nov 22 2005

Metacity Themes by monchichi 8 comments

I know this theme is made to look great (and it does), but I just want to point out it is a real ressource hog currently. It is not even comparable with clearlooks or Glossy P, it brings my 2.4ghz+1gb ram computer to 1 second delay for switching tabs and workspaces... Otherwise, it is a very sweet-looking theme! - Oct 03 2005

Great theme! Although I await a fix for the panel menu text, it's nice looking overall. However, there is some serious bug in the way the panel backgrounds are done, because if you go over 24px, you get this (exaggerated for the example)
