GTK2 Themes by kynan 5 comments

Hi thanks for the interest and suggestions. I only just found out today about the comment you have left i musn't have my settings set to notify me of a comment so sorry for the lateness of the reply.. anyway the changes you wanted are very easy to fix and i went ahead and did a kind of custom version for you, i'm not sure if its what you had in mind but i went and commented the values you need to change so you can go in and open the GTKRC file and edit till you got it looking just as you want it :).

anyhow here is a screenshot of what i did - Oct 08 2008

Hey Dan i know where the problem is, see the screenshot below. 1.7 was still using the original wireless icons with the white blank spaces and no shadows, the missing one is the nm-signal-100 one all of the gnome-netstatus ones are there.

Aurora Gtk Engine

Hey, i love the engine, most beautiful engine i've worked with. Just a few things i've noticed / would like help with however...

1. I have a slight problem with the panel buttons, when i have bg[PRELIGHT] = "#somecolour" in other gtk engines such as murrine this "#somecolour" is applied to both the normal and the active bg states exactly the same, however i noticed with this engine the normal button is slightly brighter and has more of a gradient than the active panel button...
Is this a bug or just ment to be like that, it annoys the hell out of me though haha.

2. With the scrollbar i would like to have my buttons curavture set to say 2 but i would like to have my scrollbar round so say 6... but i can't seem to do this and i've tried quite a few things, what would be great is if this was an engine option like scrollbarcurvature. It would make life a lot easier.

3. I guess this one is just a request but I can't seem to like the slider, i find it looks out of place.. do you think you could make alternatives and have a new engine option like sliderstyle? - May 02 2008

Ok i have completed the linking.
The tar.gz went from 7.4mb to 6mb which is rather nice and should help speed up those downloads. :)

As for the exporting, all i have done is replace the two icons that i was having trouble with and as well the quit and control centre icons as they were a tad small and deformed in my mint menu which made it look crooked. Everything lines up and looks really good now, so i thought i'd send you a link so you can also work with the smaller filesize.

I would be glad to help!, i'm currently studying at uni fulltime but when i get spare time i'll help out :).

i noticed that alot of the same icons are copied rather than linked to the original and this greatly increases the total folder file size especially when we are dealing with svg's since most of them tend to be 20-30kbs each.

So i think i could help by making them all links. This will make downloading the theme much faster and more attractive to have as a default theme on an OS.

And then after that i could get to the exporting.

it might take me a while to get there but ill post here when i'm done and supply a download link. - Apr 03 2008

I totally love this icon theme! sofar the best icon theme i have ever come across!

I did have 2 small icon problems (gnome-terminal and synaptic icons) were way to big in my programs menu (im using linux mint this being my mintmenu) I think that they were using the 48*48 size instead of 22*22.

I resolved by using the svg's and exporting them to the correct size placing them in the 22*22/apps/ and repackaging. and whoalah it fixed the problem.

Just letting you know so maybe you can do the same.

Thanks Kynan. Keep up the awesome work!! - Apr 03 2008

Thanks for the quick reply. I was able to get into the xorg.conf file by typing
gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf into the terminal. I found the Sectin "module" and the load "vbe" but im unsure as to how to edit it. Can you explain what i need to do?
thanks - Jun 14 2007
I love the conky display of the systems stats, so i tried installing it. i followed your instructions and was able to get it to appear however whenever i click on the desktop it disappears... is this normal? and if so can you fix it?
p.s love the theme and i love ur taste in music :D (COB, soilwork, inflames, opeth etc) - Jun 14 2007
