Hi there,
I'm having this same problem as others.
I have the configuration all fine, but it tells me it cannot find any images in the selected directory.
OpenGL screensavers work fine for me, as do other GL based slideshows.
I compiled it from source on Mandriva 2006. If there is anything else I can provide to help figure this out let me know. I'd love to be able to use this screensaver! - Jan 03 2006
Kbfx - Menu Improvement (Mockup) Opinion

Kbfx Startmenu by nookie 43 comments

okay, it's reasonably windows looking. whatever. everything mimics something and this isn't one of those god awful looking windows mimics. this is smooth and organized. i like it much, it may not be ideal, but its in the right direction of how the menu needs to go. - Nov 09 2005
Hardware Messages MOCKUP

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by RikRat 26 comments

I agree with you in many ways. I would hate to have something come up every time something changes on my computer. But if it were an optional feature it would be quite nice. I do like to know when I plug my removable drive in whether it has initialized or not and whether it's going to mount itself.. Things like that can be useful, but it's nice to have the ability to control what's popping up... - Oct 04 2005
Amarok

Audioplayers by amarok 574 comments

I dont know why, seeing as no error message is shown, but every time I try to play something with the latest version amarok simply quits. Regardless of what engine or any settings it always crashes the second I try to play a song.
All my other audio players work fine, so I would assume this to be something wrong with amarok...?
Any ideas? - Sep 13 2005

Icon Sub-Sets by tyrerj 18 comments

I dont usually comment, but I wanted to agree here. This is a great icon. I'd been really annoyed for a while now at the animated icon that my icon theme has, so this is a great improvement and really ought to be included in kde 3.5

Thanks! - Aug 25 2005

amaroK Desktop Script

Amarok 1.x Scripts by Kner 88 comments

Don't port this to superkaramba, why should you? It works without it, and superkaramba is always slow, buggy, can't deal with displaying icons behind it, uses all your ram, so if you can create such widgets without the aid of superkaramba, go for it! We need to move to widgets being integrated with KDE instead of being a blocky thing that simply sits above everything, blocks everything below it, and slows your computer down... - Feb 01 2005

I definitely like the style.
I would use this theme if it were a different color, I don't like the pink/purple sorry. :)

Liquid Weather ++

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

Blah, I'm too hasty to post issues.
More developments:
Liquid Weather would previously not load when I logged in. I closed it and started it from console a few times (first time I opened it it took a minute to fully load, and then crashed, the second time I open it it responds much faster and doesn't crash), and then saved my session..
Now it loads, but it takes about a minute or two before it will actually show and during the time its loading or doing whatever it is doing superkaramba becomes unresponsive..
My only current theory is that it has something to do with the image API...

Thanks for your time, sorry to be a bother. - Nov 16 2004

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

With 0.35 the latest version you just released doesn't show up at all, it flashes a box for less than a second then just goes to a transparent box, its 100% responsive, I can reload the theme and everything, just nothing shows up. I tried the older version of LWP as well and that doesn't show up either.. - Nov 16 2004
System Tray 2 (with icon hiding support)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by Dgege 165 comments

Exactly..
I feel if you want to clean up speed and not have so many icons in the tray.. then don't run so many apps.. its a completely separate issue than wanting to hide certain apps that you always have there but don't want to look at..
Personally I'm extremely happy to be able to hide SuperKaramba and KLineak and KWallet and the likes..

On another note, if you havn't already gotten any feedback on 0.2 I just wanna say that for me at least all the things you've implemented work fine.. - Nov 12 2004
System Tray 2 (with icon hiding support)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by Dgege 165 comments

Great!
I'm glad you've decided to continue (by popular demand obviously :))
One other thing I had thought of though I don't know how plausable it is is to have the icons that aren't to be shown faded or saturized or some sort of effect so that when they are shown its obvious they arent always shown.. Or possibly just have the shown icons ordered so that when you show them they're all at the beginning or end of the systray, hell maybe even some sort of divider between them though that may be difficult..
Your idea to have it order the icons would be spectacular, thats one thing that has always really bugged me about the systray!
Keep up the good work. - Nov 11 2004
System Tray 2 (with icon hiding support)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by Dgege 165 comments

I really like this applet (just like your other ones :))!
I hope you decide to support and further it because its a great start!
Some suggestions I have would be to add support to remember which applications to hide so when you log back in they continue to be hidden, and to please please remove the border that the KDE system tray has! I've always dispised the border! :)
The button could use some work, though I'm sure your aware of that..
As far as first releases go this is awsome!

Thanks again for another great applet. - Nov 10 2004

Ugh, I feel retarded but I can't get the sidebar style to activate..
I downloaded kdebase-3.3.1, patched it, and compiled kdebase-3.3.1/konqueror, installed it, updated ~/.kde/share/config/konqsidebartng.rc and added

SidebarStyle=1

nothing.. still the same old style
I was looking through the patch for other references to konqueror but I can't find anything else that I need to have for it to work? - Oct 21 2004
Dragon Player

Video Players by eean 278 comments

Well I agree with a lot of what the poster above me has said.. but this is a very nice beginning..
I have a play/pause button, so thats fine, though the ability to fast foreward would be nice :) also a volume slider would be a good idea.
Its odd to see a program integrated with KDE yet with completely separate color and style schemes, a option to use the default KDE scheme might be nice at some point but definitely isnt like critical or anything..
A option to disable the screen that comes up asking you what you'd like to do would also be nice, though its a nice feature..
All in all I'd say my first impression of this is that it will likely be replacing my kaffeine soon enough, as I do not much like kaffeines new layout, especially compared to this

Thanks.. - Oct 20 2004
Improving KDE

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by andrunko 313 comments

Well see I would love to patch qt but I can't seem to install it and have KDE still work.. I don't know, I assume I'm doing something wrong, I'm trying to install it like a typical Mandrake compile..
I do:
unpack qt3.3.3, patch it,
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install
That didn't work, so I did as the instructions in INSTALL state:
Unpack, move to /usr/local/qt or in this case /usr/lib/qt3 ? and then patch, compile, and make install...

If you could help me out possibly and maybe you know what I could do to make this successful?
Upon starting KDE after this I simply get the error "Knotify was not able to start. Please inspect your installation"..
I had my /usr/lib/qt3 backed up, so I simply moved it back to where it was and moved the now compiled qt3 somewhere else and all works again...
So confused.. - Oct 15 2004
Improving KDE

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by andrunko 313 comments

I have the same problem.
I've previously patched the kdebase package with the drop shadow patches from here, and now only other patch that has been applied is yours.
I'm on KDE 3.3.0, Xorg 6.8.1, qt3.3.3 (without your patch applied because I was unable to do so successfully) and Mandrake 10.1(sorta)..
I applied patches to kdebase and kdelibs and installed the kdeui and kdefx from kdelibs and from kdebase I installed kdesktop.
I'm assuming (in my case at least) that it has something to do with the fact that I didn't patch QT?
If so.. is there any way I can only update the files you're patch applies to (if so what files?) so that I don't have to completely reinstall QT (as this did not seem to work so well, was unable to start KDE after reinstalling QT manually) - Oct 14 2004

I am amazed at the quality of the applications/applets you are producing! These are awsome.
All of the "shadowing" bugs and things such as that are definitely fixed (For me at least) in .05, which makes me very happy because I may now replace KDE's taskbar with yours :)

I had one question though,
You said you added more options to this release, where do I find these? I can't find any configuration for the taskbar, or is there none?
Regardless, its awsome.

Hi again,
I did as you asked and found that if you right click on a desktop with no windows it doesn't crash, if you right click on a window or a desktop with windows it does indeed still crash.
As for the showLauncher variable, I found it and it was set to "true", so I changed it to false and tried again with the same problem. (What exactly does it show? :)

Hope this helps at least a little bit.

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by lucher 176 comments

I've discovered two things that will crash KPager2 for me..
Thus far the main ones are if you click the Apply button after checking Show Name it freezes and I have to kill its PID.
Other than that, right clicking on the applet at all will cause it to crash with the following output (from start to crash):

appletproxy kpager2
KPager: received SIGNAL(KApplication::backgroundChanged(int==1)) with KBackgroundIface->isCommon()==0
KPager: received SIGNAL(KApplication::backgroundChanged(int==2)) with KBackgroundIface->isCommon()==0
KPager: received SIGNAL(KApplication::backgroundChanged(int==3)) with KBackgroundIface->isCommon()==0
KPager2: Warning: bug in kicker - Kicker doesn't have NET::skipPager set.

Maybe thats a kicker problem? I dunno, no other applets have that problem..

I tried compiling aRts from scratch, as I'm using aRts for KDE 3.3.0 (which seems to work unless I try to compile something), so I went and compiled aRts from scratch.. installed it, all went according to plan, but then aRts crashes whenever I try to start it..
So I'mm screwed one way or another.. I dunno..

any suggestions I'd really appreciate..
Thanks - Sep 15 2004

i just found your applet, its what i've been searching for, for the most part.. the few problems i'm having though is that it crashes when you click anything in the bookmarks menu, and the actual kmenu button doesn't work.. - Aug 10 2004

i love this app, i've been waiting for one of these for a really long time.
I'm impressed to see how quickly you've developed it :)
My only suggestion is to have some sort of label for desktops or maybe a pixmap in the corner of the desktops of the background of that specific desktop.. I dunno, other than that its great, and so much faster now that it actively acquires information.
Thanks :) - Jul 19 2004

I was thinking it may be kind of nice to have a link somewhere on the widget to go to the page of whatever weather site you have set for "more information" or something.. but I couldn't think of a very fitting place to actually put such a link, so I thought i'd make the suggestion, though you've likely thought of it before.. - Jul 13 2004

this is awsome! i love it!
the only suggestion I would have would be to round the edges of windows, other than that this is awsome.

Liquid Weather ++

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

Thank you for such a quick update, the bug has been resolved as far as I can tell.
I have been having one (I believe to be unrelated) problem lately, and that is that often the weather data is partially missing and scattered throughout the widget, in random places each time I update the widget, I can't figure out why, it just started happening one day.. If you have any advise or know what it might be I'd appreciate the insight, an thanks again for fixing the urllib2 problem. - Jun 25 2004
