Hello there,

I would love to have this with the rainbow-flag colors: red/orange/yellow/green/blue/violet . Any chance?

Thanks, I really like the motive :) - Dec 17 2010

Hello there. I see strange blue lines when using amarok2.2 with qtcurve0.68.1 and resizing the splitter. Is this a bug in qtcurve?

Thanks, qtcurve is nice :) - Oct 07 2009
please double check the function

void QtCurveStyle::drawPrimitive(PrimitiveElement pe, QPainter *p, const QRect &r,
const QColorGroup &cg, SFlags flags, const QStyleOption &data) const

i get a crash on it, lets say every month. it occurs very seldom. the backtrace says it crashes in a dynamic_cast . so please check if all your casts are correctly. there must be an error somewhere in that function. - Jul 13 2006

hello there.
we (ken and me) used libnvcontrol to communicate with the nvidia driver and getting those values about temperatures and such.
you dont have to have nvidia-settings installed that way, and it will not need to execute the binary each time you want a new value query.

have a look at kima and its nvidia source for how to use libnvcontrol (it's bundled with nvidia drivers). you can link statically against them. the lib is small.

anyway, neat applet. thanks for it :) - Aug 15 2008

actually, that dcop call is seriously flawed: it causes undefined behaivor, as destructors of applets and other things are not called when the panel restarts.
much cleaner way to restart it is:
killall -w kicker && kicker

we changed the way kima is waiting for updated sensor-values with version , so please make sure that you use at least this version or any later one. - Nov 02 2007
we already looked into that problem, and it looks like it is a problem in the linux-kernel/libpthread/Qt . we really searched hard, but found no single bug regarding this in kima.
sorry about this.

cheers, litb - Aug 31 2007
as pointed out in former discussions, that is an kicker bug. it happens when you dismiss one of those big special tooltips with a mouse-click (i.e clicking on the k-menu button while the special tooltip is rolled out). kicker then forgets to re-enable legacy tooltips again (it disables them while it shows a special-tooltip). that bug was fixed during the kde3.5.7 release cycle. kde3.5.8 will include that fix.

cheers' litb - Jul 16 2007
1. we are working on a new tooltip.
2. i'm afraid this is not quite possible now, as disabled sources don't fetch values, to speed up kima. so we can't display any value then.
2.5 good idea. let's see what ken thinks about it.
- Jul 14 2007
that's a good idea. voltage values are reported by hwmon too, as far as i know. so the chances are good to include that feature to kima.

cheers, litb - Jul 03 2007
i just found the bug in kicker and committed a fix. the next release of KDE should include it. - Jun 24 2007
try hovering your mouse over the tiny arrows or over the applet handles. those tooltips also don't work here sometimes. i think it is probably a kicker bug.
yeah, you can see the tooltip of other things in kicker. but that's because they use other methods to display them.

cheers, litb.

we looked into it and changed the way in which kima waits for new data. and we think that the change will greatly drop down the cpu usage.

we don't have a powertop enabled kernel to test this. you can contact us with jabber to test it:

thanks for your help. - Jun 19 2007
yeah, that's currently not possible. however, you can work around this by inserting tab characters into the name of a item like this (and you can even insert html code in it):

<span style="color:blue;">CPU&#09;</span>

the &#09; will make Qt to insert a tab character. - Mar 11 2007
actually, we were working on it since last weekend. it turned out that's not too hard to add it. :)
about your font idea, that's a good one and we will think about it,
have fun, litb - Mar 11 2007
for the next version of kima, we built in support for the core and ambient temperature of your nvidia card. - Jan 11 2007
hi! i just wrote a patch which fixes the problem. it uses threads to read-ahead data in background. feel free to do what you want with it :)

get it from here: - Dec 06 2006
great and consistent app. just one thing:
it freezes my kicker every 2 seconds for about 500ms. the whole kicker is then blocked until cpu-info has updated its values.

sometimes the admin directory of the tarball is too old, and cannot detect recent versions of automake.

you can edit admin/ to make sure that your automake version is supported.

or you can just copy that file from another tarball.

but maybe it is a completely other problem... - Jun 18 2007

i would use this one to wait the right amount of time:

pidkicker=$(pidof kicker)
kill -TERM 0$pidkicker
while [ -f /proc/$pidkicker/environ ]
sleep 0.1s
kicker - Aug 04 2007
be aware that this dcop call has a serious problem: it doesn't call c++ destructors (kicker just exec* itself into its own adressspace) when it shuts down the kicker panel. so applets which changed their settings and call the flush function in their destructors, loose their settings.

i would recommend you to use the killall method. it is much cleaner and call destructors the way they should. - Aug 04 2007

you don't understand free software. freedom means that _if you have something_, you are free to change / do with it what you want as long as it remains free.
so if you buy that program, you are free to change it (and so, get the source). but if you don't want to buy it, you cannot claim to get the source from him.

same goes with staroffice, novell linux and so on for years, for example. - Jul 26 2007
he is totally right if he requires money for it. remember: it is free as in free speech, not free as in free beer! if he wants money for his software he wants money. period. if you get this software, then you can redistribute the sourcecode and people get the source for free (as in beer, now).
it's simple. i don't see why this guy is blamed here... - Jul 25 2007

bad that you cannot edit your posts...

better if you put the filter edit field and the browse button at bottom, below the icon list, but the browse button right beside the filter field and let the category list span over the whole vertically.

i think that would finally solve the "browse issue", since in all other dialogs like the "open file" dialog, the browse button is at right-bottom too :D - Jun 03 2006
