I like this theme a lot, but the menu bar is simply just plain black text on a white background which doesn't integrate into the overall theme at all. That's quite a deal breaker. - Feb 20 2010

I for one is happy with the new metacity buttons and do not want the old ones back.

I'm also a +1 on the wish for a utility window variant, that would definitely add some class to an already classy theme.

I also want to "bump" my wish for something being done about the buttons on inactive windows. Maybe the bytton colors are fine, but I think they should be more defined or outlined, rather than just having an overall transparency added.

That is, however, a detail, and I am really loving this theme! - Feb 09 2010

I love this theme, but one thing I don't like is the scrollbar. To me it looks like someone didn't have enough coffeebeans left that day and was too hung over to buy some. I would love to see a scrollbarthat would stay discrete, but more defined, both in colour, gradient and outline. The rest of the theme does this very well. - Feb 09 2010

Just got vers. 0.6, and I must say that I think this theme is very near perfection! Is there any chance you could set up a PPA so people could have the theme automatically updated? I think that would be very popular.

Personally I stilll think that the buttons and app icon in the inactive window could be in full color (i.e. not dimmed), bu also, as another user said: Don't listen to all my suggestions :-) Just go with what looks right to you, since you seem to have excellent taste. But still throwing in a suggestion :-) - Feb 03 2010

No, apparently it wasn't the latest version :) The latest looks great!

If I may suggest a couple of more things: I think the buttons in inactive titlebars could safely be fully visible (i.e. not transparent/dimmed). They are discrete enough that thry would not make visual noise, and it would make the desktop look a bit crisper and fresher that way.
Second, I think a discrete gradient in the titlebar sort of like the Elementary metacity theme could give it a subtle 3D look, right now it looks a bit "flat".

These are tiny details, my overall impression of this theme is very positive indeed! - Feb 02 2010

I really love this theme as it is one of the best looking and still uniquely Gnome themes out there, not a Mac/Win rip-off.

Personally, I would very much prefer if the titlebar of inactive windows simply blended in with the window background as they do in the Human theme and many others. This would reduce visual noise on the screen, help focus on the active window and hence improve usability. And also, it would look sweet as molasses :-) - Feb 02 2010

The artwork in this theme is realy excellent. Close to the best I've seen. Therefore, it makes me sad that so many icons are so corporate branded. Instead of Evolution, I see a GMail icon. But Evolution is not GMail. For Epiphany, I get something very, very close to a Safari icon - but Epiphany is not Safari! Iwould love to see some truly unique, original artwork - perhaps some nifty redoings of the official icons of the apps.

so far, I love the theme, but the corporate branding is a show stopper. - Jan 21 2010

Have you considered uploading all the different sizes of a wallpaper as one item, maybe as a zipped file, so we can also see some of the nice artwork of other users? The wallpaper is nice but not so nice I don't want to see anything else. - Mar 29 2009

I disagree with the commenters above - I strongly prefer the original jackalope. It goes well with the realistically textured background and the realistic brush strokes of the setting sun. The nre jackalope just reeks of Gimp filtering. Get the old one back please!

Apart from that, this is maybe the best Ubuntu themed wallpaper I've seen so far, with a possible exception of the hardy heron one... I suggest you upload it to the Ubuntu artwork wiki too! Only, please make it the original non-"abstract" one. - Mar 02 2009

In fact, I think they are flashy to the point where it affects usability. For example, the song/title/genre etc lines in Rhythmbox should not overshine the selected items in color brightness, as the visual attention should be drawn to the serlected item. Also, the steep color gradient of the same line and the manu highlights are kinda breaking up the visual integrity of them, making them look like a delimiter between two areas rather than objects in themselves.

But for the flat parts of the theme, I think they are really good. Like in very, very good. - Feb 22 2009

I love this theme, but I also really dig having a face browser in the GDM-theme, so ppl like my wife can just click a face instead of having to type a login name. I'd love a version including a face browser! - Dec 07 2008

When you post a theme, why don't you post some screenshots that show what it actually looks like? This is a GTK theme, but all we can see, basically, is the metacity theme, the wallpaper and the panel. Buttons, scrollbars, progress bars, sliders, checkboxes, tabs.... Where are they? - Aug 18 2008

I really, really like these themes. Smooth and easy on the eye, and yet interesting. Thumbs up!

One suggestion: The 'hibernate' icon doesn't fit well with the others. Also, the 'shutdown' icon needs some color or a darker gray, so it's contrast to the background gets more like that of the others.

Since most (all?) of the artwork is owned by Apple, this theme cannot possibly be released under GPL!
