One problem though, it messes up some pages in firefox.
Easy to fix:
In firefox -> Menu "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Content" -> "Colors..." -> Uncheck "system colors". - Feb 09 2009

There is a big problem, the moment I login and the kde4.1 splashscreen opens my laptop suspends to ram and I can't wake it without it going back to sleep within seconds.
The only way to login is to login via console and uninstall powerdevil and then login.
My laptop is a macbook generation 1.1.
kernel is 2.6.24-tuxonice-r9-mactel (that's kernel 2.6.24 with tuxonice and mactel patched)
KDE 4.1.1 also from kde-testing overlay. - Sep 23 2008

Amarok 1.x Scripts by khertz 65 comments
After a while my phone disconnects and the only way for the connection to be reestablished, is to manually restart the script.
So it'd be cool, if the script could do that it self, maybe just disconnect and reconnect once in a while, every 10-15 mins. or so.
PS.: Thanks, it's a nice script. - Feb 06 2006

chmod your /dev/rfcomm0 and it should work.
I just did:
chmod o+rw /dev/rfcomm0
Since I'm the only user and /dev/rfcomm0 is owned by user: root and group: root.
It works for my k700i, great another reason to keep my big butt on the sofa ;) - Feb 06 2006

First a "device" area there CDs, usb-key and other storage devices are shown. A dynamic area.
Second permanemt icons, like trash, home and "my documents".
Third could be application-links, for quick access. Optional of cause. This is for the users who use shortcuts on the desktop for "quick launch".
Fourth normal files and folders stored on the desktop.
There would still be room for your suggestions. - Nov 19 2005

For me it's not so much the tabbed layout that is the problem.
It's that 0.4.x had a much better interface then 0.5+, since it had a smaller GUI, spacebar throttled play and pause, middle mouse buttom throttled fullscreen. All controls I need when I'm playing video, were right-where for easy access in the main windows (select subtitle, langauge, volume control etc.).
Kaffeine is IMO still a good videoplayer for linux, but it was a great videoplayer before. - Apr 07 2005

Havn't tried enlightenment in a long time (last 16, quite old), I'm looking forward to trying it again (17).
"But: The shape should be dependend on the current GUI widget style. Please, if it is somehow possible, just patch the balloon help in a way that it is asking the KStyle engine to give it a nice shape and background image. Then you could provide your implenentation as a default in KStyle. ..."
I really havn't though of that, I think it's a great idea. I don't know mush about how kstyle-works.
I never expected this too make it into KDE's codebase, not in it's current form. - Mar 21 2005

The second type is the type you yourself adds to the desktop by (in KDE 3.4) desktopmenu->Create New->Link to device->*. This type is really just a .desktop-file with the type=FSDev.
Currently (without this patch) KDE treats type one as a folder and sort it together with folders, and treats type two like the file it is.
If hard disk partitions were first earlier it was because the name had a leading space (eg. " HARD DISK (hda1)" insteed of "HARD DISK (hda1)" ), but it seems that resent CVS have fixed that.
What this patch do is: KDE now treats both type one and two as a seperate (3rd) group of icons, and sorts them before folders and files, but only if it is told to do so.
I hope that explained it. - Mar 10 2005

you could combine thos ideas in your patch (the actual tooltips are too large IMHO, this is a more compact look)
I already know of it :-) But I see a number of issue with it, as I pointed out in the commenting section on that.
While invistigating howto make this patch, I learn something on how the metainfo system works in KDE.
1. I think the horizontal line in that idea would require a major rewrite due to the fact that the metainfo including the horizontal line i basicly an HTML-string that doesn't just split up. So I don't see a simple way of having both an icon/preview and that HTML-string.
2. I actually like the size of the FileTip as it is, this balloon has the same size as the original. I might be able to do something about the height, there seem to be some pixels at the bottom. - Mar 05 2005

I also like the line, but I see an issue with that idea. When previewing an image, the original shows a rather large image-preview, which is nice IMO. Your idea would require either a larger box or a smaller image. If the image were smaller I'd have to open more files when I'm looking for a specific image. - Mar 04 2005

It looks like shit in konqueror. Either the text will be left aligned (not left of the file thumbnail, but ALL strings aligned to the same line) or centered]
Agreed, good thing I've fixed this (atleast I think I did) and I'm sending it to original poster now.]
I just have to currect myself. I misread your post earlier, sorry about that.
Thats not what I fixed. I'd a problem with icon-alignment, when the filename were just over one line in length, it would be misplaced and screw-up it alignment of all the icons in that folder, only work-around were to zoom-in to max icon size.
As I said before I misread your post therefor I agreed to something that you didn't say. I happen to like the way the text is aligned-to-center, I think it makes it easier to read and still looking good. - Feb 28 2005

[(2) Consequency
The selection in QIconView has round corners, now. Why not the selection in ListViews/TreeViews?
I don't get it...]
There is a good reason for that ListViews and Iconview uses different code for displaying icons. And the rounded edges have only been implementet on iconview, which IMO is the best thing to do, since it would look wired in listview with the empty spaces between icons in the listview from the round edges. - Feb 28 2005

I just reemerged qt, kdelibs, kdebase and kdeartwork, with this patch (v1.0.0).
I like the new sidebar-view but there is a big problem it tends to make konqueror crash...
1. If I remove an item from the sidebar.
2. Everytime I close konqueror down, I get the "konqueror has crashed"-dialog.
I have emerged it with USE="debug", CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4" and CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4" to enable debug but I get nothing. :-( - Dec 23 2004

I've found a bug.
Try to change resolution when using ksmoothdock, the problem should be clear.
The dock, is moved of center and isn't repainted so the background image on the desktop doesn't fit.
When try to change the resolution back, now the background is okay again, but isn't drawn is the bottom.
I'm using ksmoothdock 3.5.1 and kde 3.3.0. - Sep 16 2004

They are drawn as being attached to the right side of Konqueror, I think it should be possible to place the context-sidebar in the navigationpanel, I'd like it to be filesystem/folder dependend.
I also see you have an entry called Instant Message, I think it could be cool i there were a kopete plugin, so ones contact-list were accessible.
And for CD-burning, a plugin for K3b.
Another thing I think might be cool, and this is if it were a navigationpanel, a kaffeine (xine-lib) or mplayer plugin for previewing video-files. 100% optional of course.
One other idea popped in my head, just now :-)
It'd be cool if one could use this to make a playlist for amarok, xmms, juk and other. It'd make creating a new playlist a lot easier.
Some people (i know) use the longest time creating a playlist from their mp3/ogg library, drag 'n drop from their filemanager to their audio-player.
I use the term plugin because I couldn't think of a better one ;-) - Sep 09 2004

Here are some thoughts I've given it:
The Storage-part could in my opinion also include Audiocd like in kioslave "audiocd:/".
"CD recorder" would be nice if a rightclick could start K3b or another CD-R-app.
It might even be posible to generate "Storage" from kioslave "devices:/"
The buttom "devices" might also need another name since a partition is also a device. Print should open kioslave "print:/".
The blue thing on the left, I'd prefer if the sidebar already present in Konqueror were used insted. And the actions like "add/remove folder" should be in a menu that could come from a rightclick on or around the icons.
All should of course be in i18n, so it could be translated.
Hmmm. If I hadn't a million things I wanted to make, I might be temped to try to make this myself. - Jun 13 2004
