Great, but I need to wait for packages my trusty Ubuntu 10.04 can relate to. - Nov 20 2010
DockbarX

I have a feature request that would be unbearably cool and loved.
I’m tired of notification area ("system tray") icons, and I disabled all of them on my machine. But the menu they bring with them is cool and missed.
So, it’s about integrating the notification area icon that some apps have into dockbarx icons, but only the right click menu functionality, so I would have the tray icon’s menu (let’s say, on the VLC icon) on the right/middle click on the dockbarx icon. I guess the user would need to manually link dockbarx to the right tray icon?, I don’t know, and that sucker should then disappear; and yes, I know this stuff should be addressed by gnome itself altogether, but this is the reason I propose it, because if this was real now and not in 5 years, it would be a great way to cope with it, even better than the Win7 custom menu stuff - albeit a bit hackish. I don’t have any idea about how you could implement the "relaying", but I guess this would be a really top dockbarx feature.
Let me dream :-)
Anyone likes this idea? - Nov 10 2010

I force-installed it on my Ubuntu Lucid, but then had to remove it because of window names that are longer than the applet’s allocated space causing the name itself to "pop out" and cover other panel applets like dockbarx.

It’s a pity cause in 0.2.8 the buttons pref window works w/out compiz installed and I can play with themes. - Nov 02 2010

Yeah, you're right. So, let's say I have a Chrome window with the Chrome default icon, and a GMail web-application Chrome window with its own GMail icon: I see 2 icons in the popup with the correct window icons, and the Chrome application icon in the bar.
But if I only have the GMail-app window open, I should see the GMail window icon in the bar, as I see in the gnome app selector, in the ubuntu netbook applet or in the alt-tab menu, instead of the Chrome application icon.
In case I have a single window open, I'd like to have my window icon, while In case of two or more windows, it's perfect as it alreasy is. Hope it makes sense. - May 20 2010

Hello, first, thank you for the superb applet.
I've noticed that some icons are different than what gnome uses in the alt-tab menu and in its own app bar.
So I have, let's say, the general Virtualbox icon showing in DockbarX and the specific virtual machine icon in my alt-tab menu.
So, I think that the method of grabbing the icon DockbarX is using is different from the one gnome uses.
Do you think this may change? - May 19 2010

Great, the very best for my netbook, I especially like the buttons on the right, good idea.
Only thing, 0.2.6 + Ubuntu 10.04, if I try to open the Window Buttons Preferences, the applet crashes. - May 19 2010
