Still I'd like to know what kwine and kwine_startmenu actually do. Here (debian) installed windows apps show up in my startmenu under a "Wine" entry. - Aug 06 2006

It would be nice if you could add some more information about these tools. What to use them for, why should one use them when running wine on a kde-desktop etc :) - Aug 05 2006

Audio Extractors/Converters by cycomyco 23 comments

I have absolutely no idea how this application works, the gui does not tell one what the directories are for. Can this app guess tagnames from filename and vice versa?
Looks like I have to stick to juk for tagging, which is a nightmare too but at least allows setting an id3-field on several files at once. - Feb 01 2006

Telephony by cyberclaus 8 comments

There's a tool for that already, it's called kim (k isdn monitor) but was never released. It can be found in the kdenonbeta module in svn.

Maybe one should enhance kim instead, it already supports kaddressbook integration and uses a daemon for monitoring the isdn-device, it can also be used over a network. - Jan 31 2006

Just one problem, one would have to ship this qt-plugin with the application using it and then there's still the question where to install it (and maybe it's already installed). - Jun 02 2005

KDE Improvement 3.4 (Your opinion plz)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by nookie 36 comments

kde 3.4 is already finished, not to mention that:
- this would be a new feature
- it doesn't fit to all styles
- it doesn't fit to all color schemes
- patching qtooltip in qt would be the better way instead of reinventing tooltip-classes over and over again - Mar 05 2005

Changing a few pixmaps does not really make kcontrol easier for users, the problems are:
- descriptions
- categories (this kde-components category is ugly)
Therefore I don't think this proposal makes much sense (it does not look nice though). - Dec 25 2004

If you just want something fast to chat on icq then licq is the way to go.

It does not compile properly and unfortunately the problem is just a warning and thus not fatal (your call to make install just works).
The 0.4 release compiles on gcc 3.3.x, 0.4b does not. - Jul 13 2004

same linking problem for me. But given the butt ugly code it's no wonder this never works without a problem.

Cleaning up all the headers, creating seperate headers for classes and removing all the commented code parts might eventually make this beast easier to read/parse/compile. - Jul 12 2004

This prerelease is really cool, I love both the normal arrows and the player arrows. Overall the theme is really usable, compared to many other themes which either miss contrast or just don't have forms in their icons that can mek you guess what they are for. - Apr 27 2004
