Various Gnome Stuff by mokuias 4 comments

I must admitt I am a dear user of lokheed's work. William puts a lot of effort into his desktop goodies and I have a lot of respect for him because of that.

I procure headaches quickly if using bright colour palettes on my desktop because of some eye problems and gperfection^2 definitely was attractive because it is stylish, elegant and works well with how I want my desktop to work like and function.

So in conclussion, William's work is somewhat of an inspiration. :)

You'd need another vertical scroll bar on the far right for the right area. :)

Also something I miss from Konqueror.

Somewhat off topic, but that kde colour schema is very nice on my eyes. Where could I get it? :)

Wallpapers Ubuntu by linuxgangster 1 comment

If you're good with The GIMP try engraving the Ubuntu logo into the candle. You might need to change the perspective a bit, but there's one idea.

If not, have you given the Ubuntu lozenge a try? Might work better than just the standalone logo in the corner. :)

What a lovely idea for a splash. I'd suggest trying numerous fonts, consider Georgia, Trebuchet MS, Times New Roman and Thorndale. Also, grab yourself the official gimp logo text and have a go adding that.

Kudos.

Ah man, this is definitely something that has been missing for KDE. I haven't found anything like it (not for KDE). Thank you very much for creating this.

Just two pointers: a) would you be able to fabricate JuK support? and b) the track information text is somewhat difficult to read with the stripped background.

Kudos on the lovely work.
Kind regards,

My recommendation would be to (when you use the logo) stick it in a lozenge. There is an SVG of it on the Ubuntu wiki pages along with a lot of the other art resources.

Cheers, and lovely photograph. :)

The Moorhuhn Jadg creatures are from a very popular game. I have a copy of it, it's definitely under copyright, which means that this cannot be licensed under the GPL, sorry.

You can edit the upload easily, just follow the link and change the license.

Simply, but very inventive and stylish. Have you investigated perhaps using a gradient for the gray area (it's so large and a slight gradient might add to composition).

Hey, Pascal here.
I'll update the art.ubuntu.com page for you rather than adding a new version. Oh, and nice fixing, it's awesome.

Hey, if you could get this to a 1600x1200 size (which we could resize accordingly for smaller desktops) the wallpaper would be perfect for this little idea the art team has got; create an art package for the universe repositories.

What do you think? You can find us in ubuntu-artwork@irc.freenode.net.

Yes of course. I was having some difficulties with the SVG. I actually wanted to make this a complete SVG. Andy Fitzsimon (another Ubuntu art guy) kindly helped me out.

The SVG now looks a bit borked but when you export to a PNG things begin to look a lot more like they should. I don't complain - he got further than I could. :-)
I shall add the SVG for anyone who wants it later today (it's 02:40 here).

The only thing that comes to mind with rebranding this background with another distro name is that the Ubuntu art team are probably creating an art package sometime in the not too distant future (it is currently in discussion). This is one of the pieces I intend to add to that package (and having a re-brand for another distro might not be the best of ideas).

What do you think?

Cheers, and thanks for the comment.

Sticking it in downloads might be a bit a bit hard. For some reason I can only ever achieve 1 download hosted on KDE-look servers, whilst the others I link to from my web site.

How big is it (the PSD)? Would it fit in an email, as a compressed attachment?

If not, maybe a chat file transfer.

What suits you? :-)
