Sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm a die-hard gnome 2 and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS fan. Hope you can use and enjoy my conky. If not good luck with the Unity thing.

Must install conky conky-companions

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:conky-companions/ppa
sudo apt-get update

Make sure you have installed:
Conky-all
Transitional package
Weather forecast script
conky exaile

Of course you will need some tweaking with weather
location and number of cpus's too.

Anything else just ask.
