There are some todo themes. Searching by filtering to 'karamba' and then using the description field, entering 'todo', should yield some results. - Oct 26 2006

Karamba & Superkaramba by dpu83 3 comments

"only when needed" ? That's the key. You can call widgetUpdated() in other functions of you python script when you need. If you are responding to events you can then call that to update things that normally get updated on an interval.

It really depends on what you are doing or what you need to happen. - Oct 24 2006

boo karamba theme

Karamba & Superkaramba by bikkuri 7 comments

It is b/c the interval in the .theme file is set to 100 milliseconds for the update to occur.
You could try changing that to be a little more forgiving, but then "boo" won't move around as fast.

Very unique theme by the way. Very cool! - Mar 25 2006

There has been at least one report of crashes on compiz. If anyone can verify this, comment on it, drop by IRC, send an email to me or post a bug on, that would be great.
I just want to verify that it is truly superkaramba causing a problem and not something else. - Mar 21 2006

You may want to view the config.log to see why it failed. The configure script is from the standard kde modules so there shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.
My superkaramba is linked against /usr/X11R6/lib/

Plasma 4 Extensions by smihael 124 comments

The maindata.xml file pointed to a .theme file that only had three lines in it with the THEME directive. SK expects .theme files to have a KARAMBA line which is why it says it can't read the config file.

I'm working on a utility that will perform the skz packaging and validation for users and should be up shortly for download. - Feb 04 2006

vSMP Monitor

Karamba & Superkaramba by spartak 15 comments

Verified that the problem is indeed b/c of the maindata.xml file missing. It probably worked locally for the author since the name of the file is vsmp.skz, but when uploading to kdelook the file name gets prepended with a number like 33011-vsmp.skz.
SK looks for a matching .theme file the same name as the package name if there is no maindata.xml file. So, to remedy this, just add a maindata.xml file to your skz package. The details are listed on our release notes page: - Jan 13 2006

There are some command line options for compmgr that get rid of the drop shadows for SK themes.
I believe it is something like:

It's not problem. Just keep making cool themes Matt. Oh, and btw, your download links to URL's breaks the New Stuff downloading, so people can't get your themes from the theme dialog. - Dec 08 2005

This is pretty nice and clean. One thing I think you're missing is a fade in to the glow instead of an instant state change as it is now.

After testing some themes I've uploaded I've fixed a problem with downloading skz files from kdelook. I didn't see the problem you were having unfortunately. For anyone wanting the fix that allows you to get skz themes from the theme dialog and install them, you can check out the latest SVN in branches/KDE/3.5/kdeutils or just wait for the next beta release of KDE 3.5. Sorry about the mixup. - Aug 11 2005
