The 2 pixel limit is due to the top gradient. The border, or outside rect, is one pixel, and changing the border to less than 2 would lose the top gradient completely and change the look quite a bit.
You're welcome to change it all you want. It is open source, right. :c)

The only thing different with this package is that I used the admin/ directory and Makefile.cvs from kde's cvs. I noticed some other problems with prerequisites during configure.
You can try rebuilding the configure script by issuing:
make -f Makefile.cvs
Then the normal configure & make.
If that doesn't get rid of it, then I will have to repackage it using the older make stuff from beta3.
Glad you like it btw! - Apr 03 2005

NOW HERE I DIDNT GET ANY THING ABOUT WAHT U R SAYING, R U REFAING TO WINDECO OR THE STYLE?

I was referring to the style. For example the buttons in kcontrol that are Apply, Reset, Defaults.
I've dealt with animation problems like that in my windeco, but I've no experience in styles, so I can't really tell you where the problem might be in the code.

I'll post a pic of the buttons/app icons with the background that doesn't line up as soon as I can. - Mar 30 2005

In your source download, could you update your /admin/ directory and your Makefile.cvs using something more recent such as kdebase/admin/?
I had to replace mine in order to perform the make -f Makefile.cvs.
Just a minor detail though.

Highlight? It begins and ends when you enter the button. And when you leave it highlights again?? Strange behavior.
I would expect it to hightlight while hovering, and then de-highlight when you leave.
It may be some bad animation code or something.

Area behind application icons and buttons doesn't line up correctly for me. :\

I'm in the process of making Smooth Blend a bit leaner in the redraw department.

That would be nice, but I don't think I have enough support nor experience to push Plastik from being the default in KDE.
I really just want to get some feedback, make some changes learning how the other devs work, and try to push to get it listed with the others that are selectable.

Using bash commands I don't see any way to do what you ask. Everthing is interpreted in ASCII using that method.
Now, if you want to get a little fancy and do some work, you could turn this into python instead of just the .theme file. That would allow you to use conventions such as createRichText() which allows formatting similar to html. That way you could define what text is bolded by using:
<B> </B>. - Mar 21 2005

The shadowed text is also linked to shadowing the buttons? I find this an odd behavior. I would either separate them into to config options or do away with the shadowing of the buttons.
On my Mandrake 10.1 laptop with 1024x768 resolution the shadowing looks horrible and I will post a screenshot when I get a chance.
Also the shadow is the same color as the text itself(I'm using white text) which makes it look blurry on my system instead of shadowed.
Once the text shadowing is disabled, the button animations with the highlight code looks pretty good.
Just out of curiousity, what previous windec did you base this off of? - Mar 14 2005

That's where it generates the kcontrol interface using moc during the make process. I'm not sure why it doesn't generate for you, but I could pre-compile those source files in the next release, instead of doing a make clean before it's released.
If you want to generate them manually:
cd smoothblend-beta1/client/config
uic uic -o configdialog.h configdialog.ui
uic -i configdialog.h -o configdialog.cpp configdialog.ui
cd ../../
