Icon Sub-Sets by systemx 45 comments

I saw that in your post, I just wanted to give you some detailed information about what happened.
I could always use ksvgtopng in the meantime to convert everything over to png. You could always include a script that uses ksvgtopng in your release so that people could just convert your icons to png if they needed to as well.
If I make one, I'll email it to you. - Oct 30 2004

Icon Sub-Sets by systemx 45 comments

Okay, so it appears that when I went into the kmenu, it tried to render one/many of the icons in the sub menu. At that point my computer utilized 100% cpu. I had to Alt+F2 to get to anothy tty to check the processes running. It kdeinit that was using the cpu. So, unfortunately I can't use these until they are png or the problem is resolved.
Btw, I'm using Mandrake 9.2, KDE 3.1, Kernel 2.4.22-10mdk. - Oct 30 2004

I love the minimal aspect of this monitor. I'm surprised that no one has made a monitor like this before. One thing I don't like, is that the white text doesn't contrast enough with the background you made. I'll be changing that on my desktop, but just my .02.
Keep it up! - Oct 22 2004

If you know where you got the image, why don't you simply email or ask the original author? I have found that most authors don't mind as long as you ask them for permission. Frankly I think they like the extra exposure and it would look good to some people on a resume that their work is being used in multiple mediums.
Just my .02, and it worked for me on a personal project and for the Rade8 iconset if anyone remembers that fiasco. - Oct 20 2004

KDE 3.3

KDE Plasma Screenshots by galay 4 comments

Depending on the icon set your using, you may have to replace them manually from what I understand. For instance, if the flat icon theme doesn't have a KVirc icon, it will load a default icon. I think it's in $KDEDIR/share/icons//16x16. Where icon theme may be your selected theme or something like default.kde, hicolor, locolor, kdeclassic. Just replace the offending icon with the new one. Reload the application and the systray should be updated. - Oct 08 2004
KDE 3.3

Your download is missing an extension. I guessed .png and did a mv empty empty.png and it worked for me to view it.

Try to find flat icons to replace your few system tray icons that don't match.
Maybe get rid of one of the clocks. Is there really need for two clocks? I would suggest either getting rid of the taskbar one, or replacing it with Style Clock:

If you want your trashcan off your desktop you can do it this way..

1) delete the trash icon
2) edit your ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals file
3) change the line for Trash=$HOME/Desktop to something else... like Trash=$HOME/Documents
4) logout and back in and it should be gone - Sep 15 2004

Yeah, I read about the "run as root" in the SUN forums. I ended up trying to run this in session mode and it crashed my X server when trying to click on the terminal. It's still alpha and pretty cool at that, but there's no other way to get apps to run without a terminal. - Jul 11 2004

Taskbased Desktop

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by zammi 25 comments

Doing this in karamba is very possible, but coding it efficiently may be a little tricky since you'd be doing a lot of mouse over/mouse location detection stuff. I have some interesting mouse over code in my iLaunch superkaramba theme if you would like to check that out. If you would like a working prototype mochup, send me some icons or design layout of what you want exactly ( ie what does what, what locations things reside in, behavior of the task areas, etc) - Jun 10 2004
