Plasma Themes by painkiller101 262 comments

Hi and thanks for your comment.

The cashew on the panel isn't exactly on level, because the panel has a small but noticable shadow around it and the cashew orientates itself on the topright of the panel.

To fix this "issue" i could remove the small shadow, but i don't want to make the theme look more worse than before.

So, please excuse this little and not so importand glitch. I hope you can live with it and don't have your widgets always unlocked.

Thank you again. - Feb 12 2009

Thank you for your comment.

I'm also not a fan of duplicates, but this one is just a quick and dirty solution for me, which i wanted to share with others.
I'm unfortunately not able to provide a patch with a configuration option, because i'm not really keen on it.
Even though I've read some month ago that this feature will be added to the lock/logout widget.
But when you got the time to do this it would be really nice :-) - Feb 07 2009

Hi,

i think you have to clear the cache or just try this:
- restart your pc
- change plasma theme to another ->apply
- change back to Glassified -> OK
- logout and login

I hope this will help. - Feb 04 2009

To use the theme dialog background and scrollbar sounds good and won't make great problems with all other themes out there, I believe.

I really appreaciate your whole work on lancelot and will be excited for future developement.
Until then i will theme it up a little bit more to get a complete lancelot theme.

Keep up the good work, Mr. Lancelot ;-)

Hi and thank you for your comment!

Ok, you're the second one. ;-)
The enlightend task manager and systray was looking good, right, but with multiple rows f.e in task manger in KDE4.2 it looks just silly.
Another fact is that I never really wanted it so blurred, but I didn't know better and didn't got the time to make it different.

So, I've decided to make it available as a second choice on this site, call it "Glassified (old style)" and I will NOT upload it as a seperate Plasma-theme, because I've just enhanced the theme to make it better readable and looking.

Instead of this, thanks for your interest.

Hi,

oh really? I didn't know that I'm the the only one apart from you who has themed Lancelot.
For a nearly complete theme i think it's very much needed to get a as most as possible consistant look. But well.

Good to know that you plan to use the plasma scrollbar. That will make theming lancelot much easier.
Until then i will theme also the scrollbars and observe changes in lancelot.

First of all, thank you for your comment!

I don't agree with you, that the newest glassified version is a new theme in comparision to older versions, because i just lifted it up for using it in KDE4.2 and a better visibility.
Ok, the background images aren't as blured as before, but that's not an extreme thing.

Btw. you are the first one who is telling me that he likes the old one more.
But I will come forward with a proposal:
I can upload the older version as a second choice and call it "Glassified (older version)".
Just tell me which older version you mean: 1.4.x or 2.0.x? - Jan 29 2009

1.) The activity-bar-applet seems to use a minimal-height, which is larger than the height of your top panel (when you enlarge your top panel you can see that activity-bar will fit in). That's unfortunately something i can't change by theming.
Maybe you can contact the creator of the activity-bar-applet and ask him for change.

2.) Yes, that's my fault, because i haven't done a lancelot-theme yet.

Plasma 4 Extensions by PlasmaFactory 1198 comments

First off all i want to say that you've done a great job!
Even than the upcoming oxygen weather plasmoid is a great choice, your one is more than just an alternative.

But let me give you two 2 suggestions:

1. Could you use the weather icons of the oxygen icon-set? With them your plasmoid would look even more impressive.
I've edited your svg-theme and added them to it.
You can download it here:
http://www.wochenendkommune.org/kde-look/yawp_theme05.svg

If you don't plan to use them it would be nice if i could add the edited svg-theme into my Glassified-Plasma-Theme.

2. Is it possible to edit the plasmoid in a way that it will be usable inside a panel?

Thanks again for this wonderful plasmoid!

Plasma Themes by painkiller101 262 comments

I cannot confirm this bug with KDE4.2RC1.
It could be a compatibily issue with kde 4.1, but i don't believe in, because i did not really change the tooltip.svg (except the images, but identifiers are the same). Even though the hardware-monitor uses background.svg and if that file would be buggy you couldn't see any background for plasmoids.

So maybe it's just a temporally problem on your machine or a config-thing. Try to redownload and logout/login.

If another one got this problem please tell me... - Jan 12 2009

Hello and thank you for your comment.

I know that this answer comes a little bit late, but like you can see in version 2.0 i removed the tasks because of design- and layout-problems (e.g. multiple rows). Now it uses the standard oxygen-tasks.

I hope to get some time for making new tasks which fit to the whole theme and could be used in different ways.

Until then this is all i can give you for now. Sorry. - Jan 09 2009

For systemwide installation you have to choose, like the dialog title says, the servicemenu folder of your system (f.e. on openSUSE: /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus).

But tell me which distro you use and maybe then we can solve your problem. - Aug 12 2008

Thank you for your comment.

This is the behavior for RAR, ACE and 7ZIP files to use the overwrite prevention function when you choose "extract here".
I know that this is not the best way to do, but in fact that the list-commands of these types aren't very useful for this function, i decided to make it that way.

Dolphin Service Menus by painkiller101 174 comments

Thank you for your comment.

That's right. Like i wrote into the changelog i just added compression support for multiple files.
Supporting multiple files for extraction is not that goog idea.

First szenario:
By choosing more than one archive the servicemenu appears for the first one, which is f.e. a tar.gz-archive. If the second one is a zip-archive the script, which is executed by the servicemenu, would first extract the tar-gz one and then the zip archive. But this script can't extract zip archives, because it uses the tar-command.

Second szenario:
I could also remove the limitation of only one file and let every selected archive extract after the other. This sounds not bad, but if you choose f.e. 10 archives to extract, a Dialog, which says that the extraction is done, will appear 10 times and doesn't look very good.

Because of these problems i decided to limit the number of simultan extractions to one file.
If you like the second szenario look inside your servicemenu directory to edit the files extract_***.desktop and change the "%F" to "%f".
Try it out and give me your feedback.

Thank you in advance. - Aug 02 2008

First of all thank you for your comment.

Btw before you are saying that installation problems exist for you, make clear that you are using KDE3. This servicemenu is espacially for KDE4.
I've done this servicemenu, because a servicemenu like this existed in KDE3 but not KDE4. That's also the fact why I used kde4-prefixes.

But if you want to use this servicemenu in KDE3 just copy the *.desktop files to
$HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
and the scripts, including the dialogs, to
$HOME/bin.
For systemwide installation copy the *.desktop files to
$KDE/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
and the scripts, including the dialogs, to
/usr/local/bin

I hope that this will help you and you understand why i can't remove the kde4-prefixes.
