I think you did a pretty thorough job though. My first edition was Slackware, beginning 1995. You couldn't get Redhat from a store back then. I only knew of Slack, debian and Suse :-)

Remember "www" is from 1992, Mosaic from 1993 and people still had direct and free access to the NSF backbone, up until 1995...

Wow, this shows exactly the problem with Linux. You may say that there's a distro for every taste, but over 80 distro's developed from plm. 3 or 4 strains has more to do with the desire to expose one's individuality then anything else :-) - May 09 2007

no luck thusfar. It stays in English :-/
Made sure the nl.po is fetched in the makefile for po, no avail.
I have to say that there's something wrong with unsermake at my place, it spits out an error at all times, so i don't use unsermake (it's flagged out in the admin/cvs.sh file) This might be of influence?
I might translate the kooldock/*.ui-files (that works ok), but i suppose that's not the idea.

This doesn't compile here (under Mandriva) as i get errors about missing and invalid declarations in .h and .c*-files. Libs seem to be ok (no errors during configure)

As you mentioned, it's a (common) Chameleon (Chamaeleo Calyptratus), from Jemen, Saudi Arabia etc.
So whoever patched the "Gecko" name to it i don't know, but it's incorrect.
By the way, this type of chameleon is known to be "anti-social" and should be kept single. Thought you might want to know ;-)

my automake is version 1.9.6
The trick is that the cvs-system is ment as version-control system, not to facilitate end-users.
You may find that the errors i ran into are wide-spread on many items posted on the kde-look forum. So a common distribution-method is obviously incorrect.
I'm not deep enough into KDE though to supply the correct method right-away :-)
It might be wise to drop the "make -f Makefile.dist" routine completely. We'll talk again! - Apr 11 2007

Nah, didn't think so. This package won't do on a plain Mandriva-install, nor a PCLinuxOS-install. Directories are not default, references to libraries are not standard.
Sorry, need some work.

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by industrie13 27 comments

As on many different places, the make -f thingy-command is no good for there is some nutty version-checking in the admin/cvs.sh. This check is way too picky about version-numbers returned from automake.(I'd simply comment this part of the code out)

Furthermore, a lot of developers simply do not use a standard KDE-installation for testing (if they did, these kind of errors wouldn't show up so commonly!)
DEVELOPERS: Get it right, please!

Then: ./configure produces an error: expected an absolute directory-name for <...>
You have to go: make -f Makefile.cvs
Then ./configure (the plain command!), make and make install (as usual)

I'll now have a look if installation went into the proper subdirs...

Why am i getting nasty errors compiling out of the box?
- First i have to run make -f Makefile.cvs, which isn't standard. Please tell us so before.
- Then i have to remove silly tests for the right version of automake (which stops on higher/newer versions) from the cvs.sh.
- Configure runs then fine, but
- make complains about missing header-files (believe me, my set/environment and paths are ok).
Any idea?

Hi Blase,
fixed the problem compiling kooldock. The culprit seems "unsermake". Commented out the check for version of automake in admin/cvs.sh and also in that location replaced the line $AUTOMAKE for creating the makefiles with an identical call to "automake".
That's all...
Anyhow, next step might be a Dutch translation (just for the fun of it). If you have suggestions for how to go about this, please let me know. - Apr 07 2007

Hi,yes they are there, with length zero (empty). At the end (?) of 'make -f Makefile.dist' it says:
Creating Makefile templates - Traceback (most recent calls last:)
File "<string>", line 1, in ?
ImportError: No module named bin
make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Guess automake produces all Makefile.in neatly but then ??? - Apr 07 2007

Hi,
i think kooldock is very nice to have, so we'll go on till i get this right. Maybe later Dutch translation.
I changed the admin/cvs.sh so it doesn't check so stringently for Automake (commented the case-construct out :-).
Now it will make a ./configure file which runs ok, till it gets to the making of Makefiles and it complains about missing Makefile.in on every subdir. These files are missing and the produced Makefiles are 0 bytes...
Any idea? - Apr 05 2007
