Hi, sorry I hadn't responded, but due to the lack of time I was unable to visit kde-look or even update the package... Check with rpm -ql lipstik... that all files are correctly installed, and match your Mandrake installation... or, perhaps, it could be incompatibility problem ;), hope this helps somehow... - Dec 24 2004
Funny... it should be there ;). I really can't help you with that, the rpm seems correctly installed, if you have the libs and colour schemes, but smth is missing... don't know, as I said, I'm running Mdk10 with KDE/Qt 3.3, maybe it has something to do with it... please, do rpm -ql lipstik, and make sure things are in the right place.... - Dec 03 2004
Hi aaru,

hardly is it surprising you could not find lipstik in the windeco section, because it is a style... yes, a style :), so try under 'look'n'feel-style'. If you wanted the windeco you'd seen in the screenshot, you can find my rpm here:
Thanks for the interest in my packages, hope you'll enjoy both the windeco and the style ;) - Nov 30 2004

Temper, temper my friend, calling ppl idiots isn't that appealing for further feedback... good thing I am not that vain to refuse an apology, so it is ok... next time, though... ;). I actually did make install for your personal info, only I did ./configure without --prefix=/usr, which is an obviously an issue on Mandrake, that is why I added Post Scriptum which goes " My system is Mdk 10 with Qt/KDE 3.3, if it should matter in regard of any issues I mentioned..." Key word - issues ;). I recompiled, the buttons are there, but still most of my points are on the spot, imho - control bar needs few buttons more, stop, back, fwd, which, I see, you plan to add... and subs - well, I haven't seen an option to load/unload subtitles for any kind of films/media. Docking just as an option would be nice, as well as comprehensive settings dialogue, and splash screen would solve the problem with initial unresponsiveness... hope you like this post more than previous one... - Oct 20 2004
First impressions: 1) nice idea for a simple player 2) wtf interface is this? No play/pause/stop buttons, gui is unresponsive upon starting, although very nice menu pops up for me to choose what to play after a few seconds of bewilderment 3) Fullscreen works ok, but only if movie window is selected, else kicker stays visible 4) no sound control or subtitle loading but 5)player overall feels so right that I must make some

Suggestions: 1) adding control bar, volume and slider to the GUI would be great - amaroK style, which means nice and uncluttered 2) the control GUI should be dockable, ie. easily made a part of the movie window and undocked to function in order it now does, again somewhat reminiscent of amaroK behaviour 3) fullscreen menu for complete DVD navigation in Kaffeine's fashion (on left-click lil' gui appears with basic controls, would go very well with overall amaroKish feeling). 3) Definitely an option to configure and load subs, both divx and dvd ;). Thanx for the preview of possibly great player...

P.S. My system is Mdk 10 with Qt/KDE 3.3, if it should matter in regard of any issues I mentioned... - Oct 20 2004

Ok, here it goes - first, the look'n'feel of the app is totally different, and although I am not a conformist who dislikes anything new, this is not at all good, I loved the toolbar on the bottom, it made Kaffeine, well, Kaffeine, now it makes it bad copy of KPlayer. Second, the fullscreen menu is disastrous - where is that old easy-to-use yet exhaustive (dvd) navigation right-click menu? How can I get to the title menu of the DVD? Also, simple left-click menu is also missing, and that's bad, bad, bad! I spent couple of hours dloading&upgrading xine-lib and compiling kaffeine, and what do I get ;) ? Also, some icons are not installed, or more likely are installed somewhere my system cannot find them, including the icon of the very app...On the bright side, the GO! menu is great, tabs are good idea, and I like the new welcome screen, as well as the nice wizard. Conclusion - I would put back the old gui, with the addition of tabs on the top the main screen, and definitely make a comeback for the old fullscreen menu/s... - Oct 04 2004

Your iconset is just great, I really love it. One thing tho: could you make a package with ./buildset script included, thus decreasing package size from 12 to like 3 megs, for us still condemned to dial-up? That would be really great, the script is somewhere on kde-look, and few iconsets already use it. Thanx - Aug 06 2004

Excellent work, but two objections, if I may: first, maybe you shuld remove icons from the main image, or put only one, but bigger, in order to preserve graphical balance (Konqui for example, but in Krystal manner), and second, icons on the flash-bar should definitely be bigger, IMHO. greetz - Jul 29 2004

WTF are you ppl talking about? You can just right-click a dir, go to properties, click on dir icon, and you will get a wide range - depending on the iconset - of beautiful folder icons, for your music, film, picture and other files... So, I don't see a need to hack anything and worry about reboots and loosing settings (we're not on windoze for Christssake ;) ). Distros could implement this by default, and the problem solved. - May 09 2004

...that all previous versions detected speed of my drive flawlessly, both reading and writing ones. "Auto detection" capability you mentioned doesn't work for me, also. I know how Nero works (I'm not using windows for a long while now, so I don't use it for comparison, nor ever had), and one of the main advantages of your app over Nero and similar is communication with the drive through firmware, not some shitty database, that requires Nero upgrades when eg., changing drive/s. So, I have perhaps exaggerated when I said " a bug", but it certainly is/was something funny, not present in previous versions. That's all I meant, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings ;), because that was not my intention - I just wanted an old function back, that's all. So, you changed the way K3b stores data - ok, but it would be nice to reverse it to the old, proven way. thanx for your time - Feb 25 2004
