Am I too serious when I say that the correct spelling for "correct" is using two R's? Maybe you overlooked it, or maybe it was intended! - Feb 26 2005

It's really great to see you've picked up development of this application, Guitar Pro is one of the tools that keeps me running dualboot, so I'm looking forward to any progress you make! - Feb 24 2005

Oh, I'm sorry! I really liked the picture, but it was for a 4:3 aspect ratio and the colors were a bit flat, so I made a 1280x1024 cutout and enhanced the blues and greens a bit. Because the original work was GPL, I thought it'd be a good idea to re-release the new picture. I did mention the original in my description just because I don't want to take credit for the photograph itself.

Next time, I'll let anyone know in advance when I'm about to release some modified artwork like this. - Feb 19 2005
Crystal Style

I suppose it won't be the default, since it ranked in at place six or so in the SVG competition so not everyone was convinced of it's quality, but it's great to see many supporters like you!

If you search for KDE SVG Crystal Style, or click my username, you can find an SVG version of the wallpaper - it's easy to adjust all colors in it, just toy around with it in Inkscape and export to PNG when you're done. - Feb 03 2005

Thanks, it was indeed intended for business / corporate use. Don't tell anyone but I received word that some of the entries for the SVG contest will be included as PNGs in the new KDE version.

You mean this one:

There's a SVG version (for the competition) and PNG versions for 1024, 1280 and 1600. Search for "crystal style" or click on my username.

I don't know where to get the other wallpaper, but someone else'll reply! - Feb 03 2005

Thanks for the praise! It wasn't late actually, the SVG was in time for the contest, it just didn't win :) I now released PNG version of my wallpapers so users with older KDE releases can use them. - Jan 31 2005

Thanks a lot! I am really happy you managed to get the always on top button in this new version, makes it on-par with Plastik functionality-wise and surpasses Plastik in the looks-department, so I think I'm not officially an avid Crystal user. I really appreciate the fact that you listened to my comments and made the changes so quickly! - Nov 07 2004

This set of wallpapers is *so* good words can't even begin to describe it. They are elegant, 1280x1024 native and the colors you've chosen are perfect. I especially like the green one - really fresh and would suit a SuSE desktop gracefully.

I think these should/could/would be added as a default for KDE. I don't know anyone who uses Wontonsoup as a background. These polished wallpapers wouldn't offend anyone and would just air professionalism. I definitely recommend these! - Nov 05 2004

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by dralgebra 541 comments

It's getting better! I like the new maximized feature really much, made me switch to Crystal again after I posted my last comment. It even respects the settings for moving/resizing maximized windows, top stuff.

I've got another feature request: could you add support for the "Keep Above Others" and "Keep Below Others" buttons, they are new in KDE 3.3 I guess, and I use them often in the Plastik style but Crystal won't draw them. I looked up the code but I couldn't really get a grip on it (I'm a newbie QT/KDE hacker.) It would be great if Crystal'd implement all possible titlebar buttons. - Nov 05 2004

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by dralgebra 541 comments

Yes, this is exactly what I meant! It would be great if Crystal would hide the borders and put the left- and rightmost titlebar buttons in the corners of the screen, since this would make clicking and closing them very user friendly. Using plastik or knift I always use this to slam my mouse to the topleftmost corner and click to close a window.

On my machine (KDE 3.3.0 Crystal 0.8b) I can still resize and move maximized Windows when using Crystal. You can see this when you move the mouse to the top-middle of the screen - the "size vertically" cursor appears and you can change the size of the window. The corners don't exhibit this behaviour, but the left and right edges do as well.

So, to conclude: hiding the borders and making the window unmovable and unresizable when the option is not set would be exactly what would improve Crystal even more. - Oct 22 2004

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by dralgebra 541 comments

I really really like this decoration but there is one glitch: even though I set my KDE Window Behaviour to disallow moving and resizing of maximized windows, Crystal still lets me do this. Also I put the X for closing a window in the top-left corner. Using Plastik or KNifty you can close a maximized window in a snap by jacking the mouse to the topleft or topright corner. Crystal doesn't do this, but I would really like to see the configuration option for Window behaviour work. Could you please implement this, it would make Crystal my uebermost loved windec! - Oct 21 2004
