Sorting by modification time will always have newly added albums on top, which makes it easier to find those albums you havent listened much yet. - Nov 10 2013

libmpdclient got these 2 new features which would be cool to have in cantata:

first of all: sort library by modification time:

when mpds database has changed, cantata needs to fetch all the informations anew. (whyever that is, an mpd client normally does not need a copy of the database)

anyway, this can be quite slow if mpd is on another machine. maybe sync the database with lazy loading, not blocking the UI. - Mar 18 2012

A dynamic playlist function would be kinda neat to have. What this does: It adds X tracks to the playlist and makes sure its always equally filled. (mpds consume mode can take care of this) remove last played song and cantata adds a new one instantly at the end of the playlist.

Advanced functionality that would be nice: filter it by artist, genre, etc... maybe even lookup similar tracks/artists on last.fm... - Mar 18 2012

Please add support for album artist tag. Albums with this tag should be shown under "Various Artists"

what do you think about an addon pack with presets? The nice ones are spread all over the place. Would probably be nice to collect them and distribute them in a central place.

can you make notifications autoupdate, if the same event gets modified often?

in my example its a volume change in mpd, that i send with notify-send. colibri shows queued notifications for every X step of the change, which can easily take a minute :) would be nice to see the live volume change inside of one notification. - Dec 21 2009
