Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by bk12 155 comments

Alright, I finally got it to compile successfully after installing kdelibs5-dev, g++, and x11proto-xext-dev (sudo apt-get install those should do for Kubuntu 9.10). - Jan 25 2010

I get the same error too, also on Kubuntu 9.10. I have no clue what it means, maybe I'm doing something wrong? I have cmake installed, and I'm on KDE 4.4 RC2 - Jan 25 2010

The version of lastfmsubmitd in the Ubuntu repos (at this time) was 0.37-3, which apparently doesn't let you change the server it scrobbles to. According to http://ebanana.orconhosting.net.nz/librefm.html, version 1.05 works, but the version in the Ubuntu repos were 0.37.

They were in the Debian sid repo, so I went to http://packages.debian.org and downloaded a version 1.05-1 deb. It told my python-support needed to be greater than 0.90, and the version in the Ubuntu repos again were again not high enough, so I downloaded a version 1.0.3 python-support again from Debian, and they both installed.

The next step was to configure lastfmsubmitd to use libre.fm instead of last.fm. That was accomplished easily with a "sudo nano /etc/lastfmsubmitd.conf" and adding:

--copy text after this--
[server]
url=http://turtle.libre.fm/
--copy text before this--

If this is already here, make sure the url points to http://turtle.libre.fm/ and not one of last.fm's servers. Save and restart your computer (not sure if it's necessary, but it's the easiest way to restart lastfmsubmitd).

Also, I couldn't find the script in the Amarok file selector unless I changed the file extension to .amarokscript.tar.gz. Never noticed that before, but perhaps that's a new convention introduced in Amarok 2.1? - Jul 01 2009

It's nice, even though it doesn't let you add songs to the playlist yet. I don't know much about Amarok 2 or developing, but I would like it if it ran as an applet in the middle of the Amarok window (are they plasmoids?) instead of a separate window. - Mar 07 2009
