That doesn't get rid of the eye for me. I am using an animated image I created, maybe that makes a difference. - May 21 2007
Torvalds-In-A-Box

As I stated above, I switched the sayings for PC guy and mac guy to show the neither one really wanted to use their own OS. But, I do think you are right about getting rid of the text's.

The blur was to try to show motion. I had a hard time with it because I couldn't do anything about the motion of PC guy's arm's so I figured anything in motion should have the blur. I have a version without the blur and I think what I'll do is blur the OSS users legs only keeping his upper body, the box, and Stallman (or whomever) in focus.

Great idea about the black box!!! I will definatly do that.

Comments on copyright? I'll do some research to try to find out what the law is about using stills from a advert.

Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the length of my reply. - Jun 21 2006

Probably a good idea. My original mockup used Linus Torvalds, but in the end Stallman just seemed funnier. Still considering Linus but will take other suggestions of recognizable peoplpe in the open source movement. Thanks for the comment. - Jun 20 2006

Actually, that was done on purpose to show that neither mac nor PC have faith in their own OS's. Mac excited that PC is gettin' a Dell. PC says stick with mac. Only 'Stallman-in-a-box' (and the open source user taking him home) believes his own propaganda.

The text is really an afterthought, not sure the final version will have it. I think the picture is enough of a statement on it's own (assuming people recognize Richard Stallman). - Jun 20 2006

Thanks gravity. There's not much artistic talent represented in these wallpapers, just knowing how to use Gimp, but I'd have to agree with about the importance of a sense of humor. Enjoy. - May 29 2006

Thanks gnemmi, I've added the 1280x800 versions you requested. I've repackaged everything to try to keep the number of files down, but I also added xcf sources for anyone who wants to modify to their liking. - May 29 2006

I really like this. Any chance of getting the inkscape file? Or at least a 1280x1024 version (maybe without the lightning even)? - Mar 18 2006

Sorry...I don't mean to imply everyone from non-english speaking countries 'don't get it'. Just these few. - Dec 15 2005

Wow! Are you people serious? I must remember, next time I post, that not everyone can have a sense of humor. My guess is that those that 'don't get it' are from non-english speaking countries and wouldn't know a b-movie from Bea Arthur from a b-cup. Anyway...my appologies to those that are offended.

BTW, between work and home I use FreeBSD, OpenBSD, PC-BSD, various Linux distros, AIX, Solaris, AND Windows (95, 98. 2000, XP, NT and Server 2003). In no sense of the word do I HATE windows. - Dec 15 2005

Thanks for the comments guys. I can't take any artistic credit for this, I just put the pieces together, but I'm glad you like it. - Jul 14 2005
Milo Calendar

Ok, thanks. That makes sense. It might be a good idea to move the day0.png files into NullDate cells though, just in case a themer decides to use colored or semitransparent day png's. Just a thought. Anyway, this is an excellent applet. Thanks. - Apr 18 2005
Milo Calendar

I've been trying to create a different theme for this applet and I think I may have found a bug. I'm not sure if the python script should be using the day0.png image for days that are not dates in the calendar month. I think maybe it is, but if so, it's just stacking the images in the upper left of the applet. See my screenshot of this here http://www.kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=2&id=18482&file1=18482-1.jpg&file2=18482-2.jpg&file3=&name=kgndomesx milo is the applet toward the center of the screen (of the 2 calendar applets running). I also tried this with the original theme by drawing on the day0.png to make it non-transparent. Same results. - Apr 18 2005

Thank you. The mail checker is located here http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=9311. I did re-work the graphics using the liquid theme from Liquid Weather++, Liquid Kalendar, and TMon liquid/keramik (all found here). - Mar 26 2005

I really, really like this windeco p0z3r (thanks to spasemunkie as well for the original artwork). But I was wondering...do you have plans to do another one with the original titlebar graphics idea? I would absolutely love the look http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=20002 has. - Mar 26 2005
Liquid Kalendar

Karamba & Superkaramba by baraquda 40 comments

I had a few minutes today and looked into it. The fix is actually quite easy. Just change 2 lines in the kalendar.py file with your favorite editor. Fix as follows:

Change: karamba.setMenuConfigOption(widget, "ac_locale", "0")
To this: karamba.setMenuConfigOption(widget, "ac_locale", 0)

And change: karamba.setMenuConfigOption(widget, "ac_locale", "0")
To this: karamba.setMenuConfigOption(widget, "ac_locale", 0)

All you're doing is changing the "0" at the end of each line to 0. Hope this helps. - Dec 03 2004
