Sounds like a great idea.

The problem I can see coming from this ( and here you can tell I know nothing about circuit simulation techniques ) is that different areas of circuit simulation will need vastly different samplerates / simulation accuracies. Tiny / high frequency / parasitic signals which might have a massive effect in one simulator might get lost when piped thru another. And, of course it wouldn't be able to run in realtime, so it would need to have some kind of shared control over virtual time. Interesting though. - Jan 11 2007

It's very beautiful, but consistency is more important than beauty.

If every kde app made itself individual and beautiful, kde would become a crazy mishmash of metaphors, artistic styles and behaviour. A bit like the unix desktop was in 1999. - Nov 26 2006

This would be an interesting idea for KDE 4.

I think to make it clear what the window manager was going to do, when you mouseovered a window title bar in the background, it should become highlighted (or momentarily brought to the front) so that the behaviour isn't completely unexpected if you're not actually trying to do that.

It would be very annoying to be clicking in a window to bring it to the front, not realising that behind where you clicked there was a titlebar to another window that you didn't care about, and having the other window appear instead. - Jul 28 2005

Here's an idea.

This sort of functionality as a plugin to kontact.

So that in korganiser you could have an appointment - but rather than having a reminder, you could set it to 'record channel x'.

I say this because it occurs to me that a lot of your scheduling (& recurrence etc.) code is duplicated in korganiser.

And then people would be able to have one view of what their 'schedule' is. A program set to record is just another entry in their calendar.

This would probably only behave nicely once kde is gstreamer-ised and has a nice multimedia backend. - Apr 26 2005

The problem is that these are AVIs that have just been renamed to .mpeg - they have mpeg4 streams inside, but mpeg4 was never supposed to go in .mpeg wrappers. That's solely for mpeg and mpeg2. Not that this is actually an .mpeg wrapper, it's an avi. - Mar 18 2005

Not all users always have a group. These users would be invisible/unselectable with your screen.

There should be a way of just typing the username in. Having to click around can be very annoying when you have a lot of users.

The standard unix way of denoting users is user:group rather than user/group.

Should there be a way of greying things out if the user isn't in wheel?

Y'know i think the whole thing would be better with just the hat.

I think they ideally wanted to do dynamic changing of colours with css etc but were limited by what the svg engines were capable of. Hence they had to go with the script.

...actually already been thought of. It was being worked on by the guys behind the lila iconset. It would be a good idea to contact them. Since then, the project has rather taken a backseat because of more pressing tasks. - Nov 14 2004
