the only ones that work for me are the launcher, sysinfo, qlaunch and connx themes. They supposedly open, but I'm unable to see them and I've messed with the positioning settings as best I know how. - Mar 12 2008

The buttons are HUMONGOUS! Large frames normally don't bother me, but this is a little too much. Please forgive me for being blunt, but the buttons give the theme a feel as if it were made for children.

Other then that, it's very nice. But I'd definitely make the buttons smaller, atleast a little bit, because they stand out like a sore thumb by being so large. - Aug 31 2007

And this is coming from someone who is sick of Apple-like themes; I guess this one is just enough different for me to like.

I have to agree with the commenter who dislikes the tabs, however. They don't really fit with the rest of the theme, imo. I'm not a big fan of the scrollbars either, but those are small complaints in the grand scheme of things, because this seems very well designed overall. - Aug 18 2007

Okay... I see now.

I'll be looking forward to your extensions for the color dialog box, because I didn't realize this was possible.

I apologize for the comment. Indeed, I did act hastily, because I thought you were making fun of his work in a juvenile manner. I did check the screenshots for any reason before posting, but I obviously missed the hostname of his machine, so please accept my apology for acting inappropriately.

Also, I don't know much about the "UFO phenomenon", but I do have a minor in astronomy, so I'm not clueless on the subject. Admittedly, however, my intention was to give you a little of your own medicine, rather then mock you for writing about UFOs, and I ended up serving it to you without a just cause instead.

So, let me be the first to say that I'm an idiot and have, once again, learned another lesson about acting too hastily. But most of all, I'm just sorry for my rude behavior to you, despite that it was a case of mis-interpreting your intention, because these things happen and I should have known better. - Aug 11 2007

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of your work. Please keep it going!

Btw, I noticed that you added a red directory icon. Are you planning on creating an icon set by any chance? - Aug 11 2007

I really like being able to use the color dialogue (why don't more people use it?) It allows me to match it to my current gtk theme and gives me another option in place of the Orange-LinstaBlack gtk theme.

My dislikes are minor, but here goes:

1. The window buttons in the metacity theme should have some sort of indicator active for when you're hovering over them, imo. This is an important visual cue for people with high resolutions with small buttons. It's not a big deal to me, because I'm using a different window decorator anyway, but it would be if I wanted to use the one that comes with this theme.

2. The second one may be a result of you darkening colors in response to a post above, but the vast differences in color hue is very undesirable to me. Specifically speaking, my menubar and button highlight, for the active window in my window list, are both a dark orange, as I want them to be. But the scrollbar, menu-item and button highlight are nearly pastel and I'm unable to adjust them to go with the dark rich orange visible throughout the rest of my theme.

Having said all that, I really do like it a lot! - Aug 11 2007

I just realized that the ubuntu-smooth-chocolate background, that's in your images, works even better as the skydome image. It's nearly perfect! - Aug 10 2007

I'm using your gtk theme with the wallpaper here:

http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details.php?id=1288

I'm also using it with the Kore Minimal-Glass Beryl theme, along with an orange skydome to match your color scheme.

I really like what you've done with this and I love the combination of the above together on my desktop.

Thanks! - Aug 10 2007

Icon Sub-Sets by saki 70 comments

This has been my favorite icon set for a long time and I use it with nearly every theme I use. I mostly prefer version 2 over 1, but the second one does have a major flaw, imo.

Specifically, the volume applet doesn't work well with dark themes, because you can't see it! I much prefer the icon for version 1.6 and not just for this reason alone. My other reason is because I don't think that the minimalist look of the second version goes well with the rest of the theme. I happen to be a fan of minimalist designs, so that has nothing to do with it, btw.

Having said that, thanks a bunch for the best icon theme available! - Aug 10 2007

This is only the second dark theme I've tried that has no serious problems that can't be fixed. And unlike the first, this one isn't an eyesore.

I do think it could be better, however, so I'll be spending time playing with it. The one obvious flaw, imo, is the lack of any indicators for inactive tabs. Since this is probably in the original design for KDE, however, I guess that I can't fault you for it.

Thanks!!! - Aug 09 2007

You should be able to fix this in your userChrome.css. Unfortunately, OpenOffice seems to have the same problem and I don't know of anyway to fix it. This is a serious problem, imo. - Jul 18 2007

1) What window border are you using? You seem to be using Compiz or Beryl, which is out of the question for my old machine. I know I won't have transparent borders, but is this window border still available without Compiz or Beryl?

2) Where can I get those icons?

This is very nice! Thank you! - Jul 16 2007

It's nice to see a theme that's actually different from the zillion dark and vista/osx themes. I can't wait to see this when it's finished! - Jul 10 2007

Just wanna say that I love it! I've only had two problems so far -- both of them common to dark themes. The first is with the title bar in openoffice and the second is with the 'Create Launcher' window being treated as a panel. Otherwise, it's, ... well, every elegant.

Please don't.

I love this theme, but don't wanna see it look anymore like Vista. We already have far too many Vista and OSX themes and not nearly enough original content. - Jul 10 2007
After further inspection, I can confirm that it does this in a few different places in Firefox. The most obvious one is the location drop-down box. This makes Firefox unusable, so I hope it can be fixed with my userChrome settings. - Jul 08 2007
For the record, this is one I don't have with Murrine 0.52. The logout dialog box works fine here. - Jul 08 2007
I can confirm this one too, using Murrine 0.52 again. When renaming desktop icons, everything turns black when positioning the cursor within the box. The same thing happens in Firefox when double-clicking within an input box brings up a drop-down menu of recent entries. Otherwise, everything else seems to work fine in Firefox. - Jul 08 2007
I can also confirm that the changes listed above work, although they mess up other things. Specifically, they change the color of the buttons in the window list applet and the color of the text with the netspeed applet. - Jul 08 2007
I'm using 0.52 and am having the same problem. I just mentioned it above, because I hadn't read this far yet. - Jul 08 2007
I'd also recommend <a href="http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Dropline+Neu%21?content=38835">Dropline Neu!</a>.

I love the theme... Great job!

Unfortunately it seems that the "Create Launcher" window (e.g. right-click on the desktop and select "Create Launcher") is still treated as a panel, just as it was in earlier versions.

Thanks! - Jul 08 2007
