Fire up your GIMP, load the image, choose Filters>Color>Color to Alpha from the Image menu and drop your white color from the Toolbox in the color field of the plugin window. After pressing ok, you should get rid of the white border. You can even select the white background by selecting it through 'by color selection' tool of the gimp. - Feb 11 2004

Gimp Splashes by rgfree 27 comments

I respect your work, but i think, that the gimp don't need a container. I think, that the gimp shouldn't copy the entire gui concept from photoshop. I dont need a good looking ui, but a good functional program, wich can be used to work with it. As a newbie the gui isn't easy, but if you read the docs a bit, the gui is more powerfull than some expensive grafic manipulation program. - May 21 2003

looks good for one exception: it's not simple. I mean, if you only wanna make a logo for your webpage, it fits your needs. But i would call it a "entrypage" than. If this logo will sign all your working stuff, it has to be much more simple. Maybe you have to print this logo on letter-heads or somewhere else ... - Mar 29 2003

...that the guy who ripped the icons of the crystal set, gave everaldo credit..
Damn.. why can't someone try to create his own style? Its easy to take the icons from XP, but this is not creative. I think, much users should be more creative and produce something new. Maybe this new style is not interesting for everyone, but it is a bit more special, than a ripp-off... - Feb 19 2003

I think, its a good and clean design. Okey.. the colors are a bit strange, but beatyfull. Maybe he can change them, like the hole thing in blue, or green.
Its not the crystal, aqua look alike, its something new :) - Dec 17 2002

The emoticons are very tiny for instant messangers, so i'll try to create some if i've much more time. But i think its very difficult to create some good looking emoticons, because they must be simple and clean. - Nov 04 2002

You're right, but i think, the KDE user and all the "environment users" should post personal created artwork and not some girls which are downloaded from other pages. I totally agree, that every submitted content must not contain a KDE logo or something KDE related things. But i think, if someone is posting wallpapers, he should create this wallpapers by himself. This has something to do with creativity and not with a good bookmark file... - Sep 08 2002

I totally agree with ASpirit. Artists, Programmers and anybody else shouldn't punish people who haven't the tools, which are not available for the system. They should develop and publish they work for every one. - May 25 2002

Yeah.. the graphics made by jimmac rocks! And we should thank good for graphic designers like jimmac. They make cool stuff for the linux box. And i think there is no KDE vs. Gnome. Everybody can choose their own look and feel and this is the fact! The Icons of jimmac looking really great.. cool.. - Feb 09 2002
