Yes, it is a symbol of Japan's imperialistic past and although you don't mean anything bad that flag and what it stands for is an awful memory for some of Japan's Asian neighbours. I just tried to install the Mandrake version and the install failed with a missing dependency in libGLcore.so.1.
Can't find this file on any of the
Mandrake CDs.
