Various Plasma 5 Improvements by dangvd 703 comments

Hey. This is really the smoothest thing that I've seen in a while. What I'd be interested in seeing though, is a more OS X-like taskbar style; so if you have a launcher icon for an app that's running, it has a little arrow under it, and clicking on the icon again takes you to the app. If there was already an instance, double clicking would launch another one, and if there were multiple instances, clicking once on the icon would bring up a menu to select which instance to go to.

I'd like to be able to configure the clock a lot more than I currently can. Maybe the long-term answer is to embed the clock applet from kicker.

Other features that would be neat, but are definitely longer term: embedding taskbar applets, automatic Xinerama awareness (and possibly doing something like having two bars, one on the left with launchers/taskbar and one on the right with pager/stuff).

At the moment, I'm terribly busy with other work, but I'd gladly help out with these features in the relatively near future, if there's interest. - May 31 2004

This isn't a fault of the window manager, it's a fault of X, which was designed for network transparency, rather than eye candy. If you wish to have a positive impact, start contributing code to XFree to help them implement a network-friendly alpha layer. - May 31 2004
