Cool Effect

This is a great effect. It is smooth and gets the job done. The "avoid one-frame blinking" change makes it even better, so you should incorporate it in the next version.

You really should add some description, like: "This effect makes new windows appear on screen as if they are being zoomed-in (i.e. they start small and then grow to their normal size). It currently works with all windows.", and a corresponding title, like "Cool growing window effect".

Hi,

don't know if you are still working on this. I really like this decoration, I think it blends in well with the rest of the desktop theme. However, resizing does not seem to work with Plasma 5 - the cursor does not change to the respective resizing icons. This happens in at least two desktops I have running plasma 5.

If you could have a look and find the time to update it, I would be very happy!

OK, so I found a workaround. Obviously, freemeteo has some sort of IP filtering system or whatnot to redirect to a new Greek version, where the page has been redesigned from scratch more or less (Maybe they sold the Greek version, I don't know). All the divs and containers are named differently from the international version, and the layout is slightly different too.

Anyway, I downloaded your XML files and copied the one for freemeteo to a new one, only this time I changed the base URL to connect through a web proxy (Anonymouse) instead of connecting directly to the site. You need a proxy that does not keep session cookies in order to make this work. The plasmoid works fine with this workaround, I don't know for how long though. Yay!

I think it's not worth the trouble creating a new XML file just for the Greek version of freemeteo, especially since you don't have direct access to the Greek site. Maybe you could add a bit in the documentation reporting users of the problem. Otherwise, I could save an instance of the Greek site and send it to you to check out its structure.

Thanks again for all your help!

Hi again, no, using the identifier you mentioned does not work (tried it with the new version as well). It is the same identifier I was using before the site broke. gid=264371&la=2 makes the little network plug appear on top (as if no connection).

If I use gid=264371&station=5267&language=Greek&country=greece or portions of that the network plug goes away, but the data is obviously unreadable from the program, since I get no weather data.

Plasma 4 Extensions by jaegerschnitzel 1069 comments

Hi, sorry for the misunderstanding, my fault. I am located in Greece and maybe it is only the Greek version of Freemeteo that changed (the layout of the Greek site definitely changed). They also changed their URL structure to Greeklish (Greek words with Latin characters. As an example, the 7 day forecast for Athens URL is:

http://freemeteo.gr/kairos/athina/7-imeres/pinakas/?gid=264371&language=Greek&country=greece

Unfortunately, the site automatically redirects me to the Greek version and I can't seem to access the international version (with which the plasmoid probably still works). The Greek version gave URLs similar to the example you have in the plasmoid up until a week ago (when the plasmoid stopped working for me).

I would really appreciate your help in fixing this if it is easy (maybe tweak the plasmoid's settings or something), but if it's too much of a hassle, I'll just use another provider that works. Freemeteo was more reliable, that's all.

Thanks for your reply! Keep up the good work! - Jan 25 2014

Hi. I just registered to post a thank you for a great plasmoid. I have been using it for years and I can't imagine my KDE desktop without it. I would like to ask you to have another look at the freemeteo site, they changed their layout and stuff and the plasmoid stopped fetching data from that site properly. I have changed to accuweather but I find freemeteo to be more accurate.

Thanks again for a great plasmoid! - Jan 24 2014
