I don't think that's russian. That is definitely croatian/serbian/bosnian, whatever you want to call it, and if it happens to have the same meaning in russian, you are right, but I doubt it. You got the meaning right, though. - Dec 17 2005

Maxilys, thank you very much. I agree with rubentm. This windeco is definitely the best. Period. - Oct 20 2005

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by Maxilys 74 comments

After I installed 0.3, I deleted the source package. Now, I have installed 0.4 and I think that the old buttons looked better. Now, I don't have the 0.3 file anymore to go back. Could you put that file back here too? There might be more people who like the old buttons. - Oct 20 2005

configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` - Oct 16 2005

System Software by invernomuto 100 comments

The prefix itself is not a big deal, since one can easily find out what it is using

kde-config --prefix

kde-config --help

for other variables. So, one can safely run

configure `kde-config --prefix`

on anything. But, one still might want to add some other options.

System Software by invernomuto 100 comments

I just wrote a comment and it is gone. Anyway, two things are necesary for this. It has to ask the user for the root password instead of terminating. Consider using

kdesu make install

instead of

make install

The same for uninstall.

It should also have some conf file to hold configure options. Otherwise, this is a grat idea. A lot of newbies will love this. - Oct 14 2005

System Software by invernomuto 100 comments

I think checkinstall would unnecessarily complicate something that should stay this simple. One thing is, however, is a must in order for this to be useful. It must ask the user for root password instead of aborting. Consider running

kdesu make install

make install

See line 279 in kompilewidget.cpp

Some conf file to contain command line options for configure script would be a nice idea.

Otherwise, I think this is an excellent idea. A lot of people (recent converts) are asking for something like this on Linux. - Oct 14 2005

I agree 100%. Plus, KDE is a much better user interface than Mac OS. I find Macs hard to use. If there was no Linux, I would use Windows. - May 07 2005

Utilities by trueg 227 comments

I have used K3b for a long time. It is amazingly good. Never had any problems. I have reinstalled my Fedora 2 and now I have a problem with K3b. You can see what the problem is here:

It does not recognize that my CD burner and the DVD burner can write CDs. Also, it reports that the DVD burner cannot burn DVDs. Both worked perfectly under Fedora 2 before reinstallation. What could cause this? All the stuff that K3b uses is installed. I don't understand. - Sep 18 2004
