Is this the beta1 version or is this actually the 'final' release, if this is the final you should update showing that the new version is out (and also get added to portage).

Oh and there is a bug in .71 (not sure if its in the new version), if the emerge is going to take longer than 24 hours it will wrap back around to 0, so if something is going to take 30 hours to emerge, it will show it as '6' hours (I noticed this when I put all of KDE 3.5.1 in the queue). Maybe it should also show how many days? - Feb 07 2006

I believe there is a feature like this in SuSE's KDE. Though instead of removing the items from the list it grays out items that don't match. - Dec 23 2005
Kopete DeskList Plugin

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by conrausch 118 comments

A feature that would be really useful would be the ability to either select what groups are show, or only have specific buddies shows. Right now the list is going off the screen and by a huge amount (buddy icon size is set to smallest it will go, and my resolution is 1280x1024) so right now this plugin isn't very useful (though I really like the idea behind it!)

Right now only 13 people fit on my screen out of 18 online (in a couple hours it will be twice that at least).

Also the order it sorts my list seems somewhat random, I'm guessing its simply in the order that kopete gives your plugin and isn't sorted in any way?

Another interesting feature would be the ability to have multiple columns, that way you could fit far more buddies on your screen (or you could have 1 column for online, and another for away/idle buddies).

This is a great plugin, especially for a 0.1 release! - Dec 02 2005

"Sorry, no idea. :( This deco is "broken", I give absolutely no warranty of stability.

You may run 'kwin --replace' in a shell and watch for some interesting output."

Well I tried that... and my X server froze! :-D The keyboard stopped working, the mouse could be moved around and it would change icon like normal (though clicking wouldn't do anything, like the keyboard), though amarok kept playing music (so I got to finish listening to a good song :-). Hopefully one day it will work for me, till then I will be using Crystal! - Sep 23 2005

Oh yeah, the only 'feature request' I can of would be in the installer for it to ask you your desktop resolution so it can pick a default size that would fit on the screen. Other than that one thing I have to agree that it seems perfect! - Sep 15 2005

You've just converted me over :-D

Kuake is a really nice app and has some really nice features (like the bar you can click on to open it or you can click on another app to close it), though NoKuake has taken its place on my desktop. After playing with the positioning a little bit (my resolution is 1280x1024 and I changed the position to -1,-1 and size to 1283,480), and enabling Konsole's transparency (yay I get to see my wallpaper!) it is even nicer than Kuake (I haven't tried to new version by hunt0r though).

Also using the bash script version of toggle_kuake you don't need the wmctrl (which I forgot to install haha). - Sep 15 2005

This version of kio-locate doesn't work for me. It compiles and installs fine, but when I try to use it I get:

An error occurred while loading locater:/config:
Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by dralgebra 175 comments

When I try and use Crystal-GL the decoration never shows up, its always just the last thing that covered it (like if you drag a window over the border it will leave imprints on the border).

Direct Rendering works on my system, and my GLX version is 1.3. GLX gears gives me just under 10,000 FPS, I'm in the video group (another poster had a problem solved by that), I'm currently using version 7676 of the nvidia driver and I just upgrade from 6629 (previous version acted exactly the same way), I have Xorg version 6.8.2, and composite is disabled.

I *think* I tried an older version of CrystalGL on my laptop a while ago (also nvidia card, GLX works on it to), and it acted the same way... hopefully I'm not just cursed! - Sep 15 2005
Konqueror flash plugin installer

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by bcanet 20 comments

Currently GPLFlash only supports flash 3 and 4. Theres a rewrite (GPLFlash2) that plans on supporting version 7. Hopefully it will be done soon because I've NEVER gotten the normal flash player to work in Konqueror, which means I have to use Firefox for my school work... - Sep 15 2005

Virtual Filesystem

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by meneerdik 30 comments

Oh I just thought of another thing, in the tool-tips for the icons it should have a description of what each thing does.

Also I think that too many of the kio-slaves have no description for them, like looking in KInfoCenter a majority of them just have 'Some info about protocol camera:/ ...' or nothing at all (right now if you want to learn about kio-slaves you have no clue what they are or how to use most of them). - Nov 13 2004
Virtual Filesystem

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by meneerdik 30 comments

I voted good because this so far is the best idea to raise awareness about KIO-Slaves in KDE, though some tweaking would be good (and maybe a name that isn't so close to the 'locate:' kio-slave). Like on the second screenshot add the ability to browse files via FISH, SFTP, NFS, and stuff like the afp protocol (mac: ?), the samba protocol (smb: ), webdav(s), etc.

Have a look in the KInfoCenter -> Protocols at all the KIO-Slaves installed on your system. Some intelligent system to figure out what each kio-slave can do automatically and then add it to the appropriate places would be really good.

Maybe putting Personal Files, and Devices under something like 'Local Files' would make it a bit more organized. Also in this 'personal files' you could put a link to the FS root, and some other nice local protocols like locate: to search. - Nov 13 2004
"Borealis" sound theme

I just installed your theme and LOVE it! This should really be considered for the default theme in KDE 4 or 3.4 (hopefully sounds support will be added into the theme manager at the very least). - Nov 03 2004

Try first becoming root, and then running the installer. It shouldn't ask for the pass then (I think). - Aug 20 2004
