to build the sources:
untar it
mkdir build && cd build
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` ..
sudo make install

note that the ` is the key to the left of the one... you will also need all the development packages for kde4 and libparted - Sep 25 2008
this is sweet! thanks so much for your effort on this! it's been a while since there was a solid KDE partition manager and you've filled that void! mad props - Sep 24 2008

I added another concept picture of how multiple instances of the same program could be managed. As before, feel free to combine this with your more artistic rendition. - Dec 02 2005
I like this idea a lot. I'd thought of something similar and mocked up a few improvements/suggestions. I also addressed the complaints towards this being 'confusing.'
NOTE: i'm no artist, so i did this the simplest way i could think of. please excuse my cheap screenshot and poor gimping skills (er lack thereof).

feel free to play around with that, or post it as a second screenshot - Dec 02 2005

chalk up a third perfect mixed mode dvd rip

but anyway, another feature request:
would it be possible to make this run with a default nice value of 10 or at least 5 instead of 0? (i know it's easy to set myself but having a default of 10 might help to not lock up slower machines, especially for the 'new' croud you're targetting who might not know as much about priorities) - Mar 24 2005
hehe i meant mixed mode NTSC movies, not the file system :) - Mar 21 2005
Well, for the complete simplicity and hand-holding ability of this program it's very impressive.
So far it has worked perfectly on 2 different mixed mode NTFS movies.

Requests if you need directions to go in:
In the media-size drop-down, allow the user to input a custom size in MB instead of being bound to the large increments.
OGG support (with user-enterable quality rating)
MP3 support VBR bitrate/user inputable bit rate settings
Allow the user to input an Xvid bitrate setting and audio choice without being bound to a final file size
Allow for custom naming of the output file insead of just DVDRippartXofY.avi
Subtitle support
Multiple Audio-Track support (for dual-language movies)

Thanks! awesome little front-end/program - Mar 20 2005

I like it a lot, my only (hopefully) small request is to allow it to use user-defined colors for the window border and titlebars. I tried both "system colors" and "original colors" but there was no difference.

as for the gentooer who wanted an ebuild:
its not all that hard to install stuff w/out the ebuild - you can't always be dependent on them ;)
unzip it to any folder, and cd into that folder
./configure --prefix=/usr/kde/3.2
make install (as root)
you don't even need to restart kwin it's automatically there as a choice in kcontrol - May 10 2004

wow I'm out of it. I meant to finish that sentence - the custom font's that I've set don't work, it over rides them with...something. It's not the normal kde-defaults either though? - Apr 26 2004
This is a very useful application, and I use it all the time now. A few gripes/problems I've noticed:
1) It rescans everything, everytime. This is not a big deal unless you're dealing with the entire / directory, where it takes forever to update.
2) The "Open in Konqueror" and "Open in Konsole" shortcuts don't work with directories that have a space in them, eg "my home folder" returns the error "directory /home/myname/my not found" instead of entering /home/myname/my\ home\ folder.

Also I don't know if this is my setup or not, but the custom fonts I've set for KDE/QT (3.2.1/3.3.0).

Overall a great useful program, thanks! - Apr 26 2004
