well first of all i really like kmldonkey. keep working on it!
but a feww things improved would really make working with it easier:
1.the server list is soo full that program freezes every other second. it would be good to make subtabs in the server tab for each protocol.- or at least seperate edonkey, g2, dc and fasttrack
2.the ability limit automatic server login for certain protocols like dc
-dunno whether this is actually a change required in mlnet
3.display number of sources in downloads tab
4.use the hash [ ;-) ] tab in search window for something different in protocols that dont use/support hashes. for example the length of a cueue in soulseek

well anyways keep up great work on kmldonkey, it rocks! - Jul 29 2004

i really like the icons and i think its nice that you think 56k people, but it would be nice if you also think of the people that DO have broadband, but DO NOT have time to bother looking for some extra tools included in some extra package, that has dependencies requiring more extra packages, of whome i maybe dont want any....
anyway would be nice if you could provide an out-of-the-box-package, too.

well i think your player is great, but kmplayer is also good, dunno which is better, probably yours but kmplayer has support for xine too, than again there is kxine and kaffeine...
my question why dont all of you sit together and make the-best-kde-media-player-ever??? ;)
join the efforts and standardize to one mediaplyer that all the distros can (and will) ship! i know that diversity is a big bonus of the open source world but i think something like the standard kde-media-player could (and should) be one application, including all the benefits of the kde-players mentioned above. would be more comprehensive, not only for newbies...
anyways kplayer is probably my favorite and has good chances of becoming th-best-player! just make the others join you ;) - Jul 12 2004

i am curretnly working on getting freebsd4.10 working will it work on that too (says 5.1+ in discription)?
and yes it looks great, but i'd rather see copylefted than copyrighted...
and using the gpl would ensure that no-one could make money with your app without sharing it for free (whereas they could if you bsd the app).

i love it, but i would really like to see some of the following implemented in future versions:
-make it possible to place kicker panels beside ksmoothdock (i.e. little kicker in bottom left corner and ksmootdock in bottom middle)
-make it possible to give ksmoothdock a fixed size (with free space after or in between icons for parabolic mode)
-ability to show menus (start menu submenus and/or quickbrowser menus)
that would be AWESOME
thanks alot and keep up the good work(hopefully you'll get kde to integrate ksmoothdock into future kde releases!!)

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by garrylachman 12 comments

cool to see more and more socialist and soviet art on kde-look, but with releasing the splash under the bsdl (or any copyLEFT license) makes your copyRIGHT notice in the splash absolutely invalid. also it contradicts the socialist content! what do you intend with printing it there?
i mean of course i could just edit the picture and remove it as is my right given to me by the bsdl, but i think that would not really honor the work you made and i really like the art other than that so please make a version without the (c)!

Soviet Arizona

Wallpaper Other by johanneswilm 44 comments

well first of all i think its great to see some political contents on kde-look that is different than the other stuff.
i, as a socialist like soviet symbols, but not as flags or national symbols and not as glorification of a country, but of the ideads of justice and equality(which can NEVER be achieved in our current system).
i think of pride as an egoistic feeling and harmful in most cases. while most people do not agree on this (and i accept that) you will agree that pride is absolutely not marxist or socialist.
glorifying a country is something typically capitalistic and any persons that calls him/herself communist/socialist-whatever does not believe in this. countries and borders seperate us, they are used to keep people apart and caged!

you say something about copyright up there and then you say licensed under gpl? both of these license models violate each other. and since you picked the gpl(i guess) you might be violating laws. be careful about the gpl its great but uncareful use may have you violate other copyrights. - May 27 2004

well i am using debian and in the apt-repositiries the only packages that exist are:

i installed kmldonkey with deps, but i cannot connect to the core, it tells me connection refused, same when trying to access mldonkey port from browser. other pages say that you have to 'mlnet' (which supposedely is the core) first. well the problem is kmldonkey does not contain mlnet and there is no mlnet package or a single mldonkey package.

i really like the look of your kalender and xmms themes, but the xmms one just wont work....
it only shows band name and track title, no visuals (no background...).
i am using suse 9.0 and superkaramba 0.33.
python bindings for xmms are installed and kde are installed.
also there are a few things you might want to add to the xmms theme like volume control, something REALLY cool but probably really hard to code would be drop down ;-)

first of all i am not attacking your i am socialist myself, but i still dont get it...
i like the art, but dont understand the message of the sentence. (this is not a criticism i only want to get the sense)do you want to express that:
1.linux is so 'social'(free et cetera) that socialists/communists want it? or
2.that the chinese are so intelligent/good/..whatever that they use linux as OS? or
3. that linux is bad and communism too and that thats why they attract each other (i know you probably dont mean that but a lot of people could understand that)?
i really dont get it sorry. anyway can you make a version without stars and text just the linux on red backgorund?
thanks - Dec 02 2003

Wallpaper Other by Maui15 24 comments

i wouldnt put it that harsh, but i think its wrong to copyright your stuff too. this is a linux community and most believe in the gpl.
of course it would be right to give credit to the creator of the art, but even if not what is your problem?
obviously somebody is jealous of your art and reposts it under his name, giving him a false feeling of satisfaction and spreading YOUR art.(HARM TO YOU?)
i would imply you submit your art because you like people to see it and not because you need the fame; then how can some little reposting damage your art?
now you damaged your art by including ugly copyright labels, i dont think thats better... - Nov 30 2003

i really like your osxbar and have no errors, but i have a question. i want the bar only to be a quicklaunch, i dont need sensors nor do i want tasks or the kmenu to be displayed, is there an easier way to disable these then to edit the config file?
for example it would be great if you could set the option to use source folder which contains all links to apps with icons that you want to be on the bar; so everyone can just drop links to programs there, saving him all the code editing.
an opton like this is already available in the slickbar-quicklaunch, the code might help you.
thanks alot and keep upt the great work.

p.s:it would be great if you could provide tgz tarballs in addition to the bz2 ones. the bz2 ones take REALLY long to extract. - Nov 23 2003
SlickBar for SuperKaramba

Karamba & Superkaramba by optikSmoke 282 comments

well after a couple of months i actually got slickbar fully functional...:O
i REALLY like it!
getting it to run on suse 9.0 was more than time consuming, but i wrote a little how-to and opened a thread on how to get pyKDE and pyXMMS working in suse.
it is available at

hope this can help some people.

btw did you realise wizzard made a slickbar mod (whose download is broken...)? he had some good additions too though. he had icon resizing on mouse-over and some stuff like that.
some other additions i think would make slickbar even greater(it already replaces kicker but adding some stuff it could also replace some other karamba themes).
for example a second bar for the bottom of the screen (from right to left maybe), would be great since i am running out of space on the top with all the beatiful panels :-). and maybe cpu/mem/hd bars....
anyway i know slickbar is just going to get better. keep up the good work - Nov 18 2003

KDE Plasma Screenshots by soulrebel 3 comments

yep counterstrike is emulated by winex. kinda hard to setup at first, but it works in the end. there are some problems though, menu items flash up once in a while and mods have to be started from outside the game (with arguments). gameplay itself works flawless though. if you have problems running it, i solved my problems by calling little scripts containing all the arguments to run the games, for example looks like this:
cd "/mnt/hdb8_games_win/Half-Life"
winex3 hl.exe -console -toconsole -game cstrike -opengl

in the game argument you can substitute what ever mod you have to create a script for each. there are probably easier ways though i just got used to making scripts for my games. - Nov 17 2003

since suse stores kde in opt and some other things, after successful make install you will still not see the theme in kontrolcenter. this is what you gotta do:

make install

copy/move 'aqua.desktop' from

and copy/move 'libkwinaqua*' from

that should make it work! - Nov 17 2003

i dont really like christian stuff all over kde, but i think that tolerance is basic to understanding, so go ahead with your projects!
athough i recommend a christian corner on kde or someting like that, that not everybody needs to see what some consider propaganda but those people that want the "religious-feel" know directly where to get it.
also some questions to annoy you ;-) :
1. you said god created the whole universe, meaning he created absolutely everything, right?
that means he also created evil and planted the seed of hatred in our hearts!
or in other words if god is source and creator to everything, he fathered all 'sins' and crimes....
2.if i ask you whether god is almighty you will say yes, right? well if he cant do evil he is not almighty is he?
3.if god shaped us in his image how come we are so bad whereas he is supposed to be so good?

these questions give us only two options either god is (partly) evil, proving your religion wrong or your total perception of god is wrong(god is good, but neither created universe nor is he almighty nor did he make us in his image), your belief being false too.
sorry if this is seen as provocation or insult, it is meant as neither. i dont wish to offend anyone, this is only my opinion on the matter, of course everyone is entitled to thier own. - Nov 12 2003
