Best window decoration EVER - if I do say so myself ;)

Seriously though, I cannot thank p0z3r enough for taking the time to implement this. He put a lot of effort into turning my silly little drawing into a real window decoration for us all to enjoy.

If you are one of the many people who were looking forward to having this decoration, please take a minute to thank p0z3r and, of course, vote him up. - May 05 2005

Thanks so much for taking the time to do this! It looks really sweet!

If you need any help (although it looks like you are doing just fine) with anything, please let me know.

Thanks again! - Apr 14 2005

Yeah, I definitely see your point. I, on the other hand, have a pet peeve with overly large buttons which... is kinda hypocritical when you consider that I also did this:

I kind of like these buttons because they are small and off center, which is something I've never really seen before. But then, maybe people don't make buttons this way for good reason ;) - Mar 26 2005

hmmm... I'm not really sure what I would have to say that isn't already covered by the excellent tutorials that come with Inkscape (see Help > Tutorials). If you're familiar with Inkscape, then all you should really have to do is download this SVG file and see how I made them. They're actually pretty simple - not counting the repeating stripes, each bar consists of only 3-5 different shapes. - Feb 02 2005
Of course you can use them, that's what they're here for.

Glad you like 'em. - Feb 02 2005

It seems you may know a thing or two about KDE win decorations... Would you mind pointing me in the right direction to get started? - Jan 25 2005
After looking at your windecs, I wasn't exactly sure what you wanted, so I just split out a couple variations of the buttons and added them in as a third screenshot (as a big transparent PNG). It should probably only require a little cropping and resizing on your part to get what you want.

Enjoy! - Jan 25 2005

One thing that annoys me about most Karamba bars is that the number of desktops is either hardcoded, or at least very difficult to change.

Might as well nip this problem before it becomes a problem (should anyone decide to implement this). Automatically detect and account for the number of desktops the user has, and all will be well.

I use 6 desktops... don't ask why, I don't quite know myself - I'm just used to it at this point. - Jun 10 2003

Is this really required for karamba-themes to work? This is 15MB I think would rather not have to download...

Not that there is anything wrong with noia warm iconset, but I hate to have to pull down 15MB of something I don't need. - Apr 23 2003

I was just waiting for someone to point that out :) I actually hadn't thought about it until after I put the whole thing together and tried to imagine them spinning... oh well, glad you like it. - Feb 03 2003

Thanks for your comment and sugegstions. After taking a look at your wallpaper, I decided to totally re-do (again) the bevel by spinning a mesh with nice round curves instead of extruding a circle. The result is much nicer, but I wonder... how did you get your gear spoked to be bevelled like that? I seem to remember a bevel setting somewhere in Blender, but I can't find it... - Feb 02 2003
If anyone can tell me why the bevel on the gear is all blocky, I would greatly appreciate it. I have Auto Smooth turned on for that object, but it still doesn't look smooth to me. - Jan 30 2003

it apears to be a real photo of some brushed metal with a KDE logo excellently overlaid with highlighting and shadowing. The screws appear to be rendered and don't really fit too well with the rest of the image. If I had a suggestion, it would be to take the screws out.

Otherwise, this is AWESOME work... - May 21 2002

I love the Crystal icons but I think the "marble" look is being overdone a bit - just slap any old icon in the middle of a marble and wham! another icon.

But I must admit that it was cool to see it broken down into layers. Very nice work! - May 21 2002

Thanks so much for your feedback, and especially thanks to silcndrgn for creating this wallpaper in the first place, and then for being so supportive of my changes. I can't wait to play around with this layered image to see what other things may come out of this.

Thanks again! - May 09 2002
