It's a little program written to be a full GNOME applet that's lightweight with the objective of being a menu launcher for applications. It's written using python, and myself have been in contact with the author (Alex), finding bugs, creating artwork (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/The+Launcher?content=71141), and giving moral support. Well, I can't fully utilize Inkscape yet, so I'm combining existing icons (this is a dirty hack), I didn't really thought about the copyright issue. The idea of using icons inside a box comes from the idea of when you clean your stuff, you normally keep it inside boxes and you label the box to know it's contents. A launcher was my first idea but I can't seem to make a good one :'( they look like Flintstone's cars loll - Dec 07 2007

Sorry all for the late reply, but this work is discontinued as Arch dropped Usplash usage. The progress bar is just a customized image, you can get Ubuntu's source from it's forums, or maybe even on gnome-look. - Aug 07 2007

I personally don't see where the problem with this type of wallpapers is. I mean they are not pornographic, and I really think a picture of a beatifull women on my desktop is "easy on the eyes". And remember that you can use wathever you want nobody forces you to use it. Sick of people telling me what to use and to see is not what i want by using Linux, if so I would use windoze. So I vote this "good" and I hope to see people voting based on the artwork itself instead. - May 14 2007

I'm trying to make a usplash theme i'm sorry but i don't use gensplash :( . If you want you can adapt it to gensplash, it souldn't be that dificult. I guess it can be used on all distributions because there's no branding in it just add your distro's logo to it ;) - Jan 22 2007

I'm currently in the process of building it but i'm not getting very happy with the way it is working right now. For instance it must use an indexed png with 255 colors so the gradient must go :( and some oter things but eventually i'll work it out. Maybe in 2 weeks it will be ready. - Jan 20 2007
