This is your problem, or at least your first one. You need to have Python headers/modules installed for this installation to work, even though the configuration script will chug along just fine if you don't. If you do have Python installed, check the paths that the config script is looking in in config.log and make a symbolic link so that it finds it. - Sep 25 2003

I have this problem too. I got a .deb of libxrender1 and it wants upgraded versions of libc6 and xlibs that aren't available for woody:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libxrender1:
libxrender1 depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.1-1); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.2.5-11.5.
libxrender1 depends on xlibs (>> 4.2.1); however:
Version of xlibs on system is 4.1.0-16woody1.
dpkg: error processing libxrender1 (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:

thanks in advance for any solutions! - Sep 23 2003

I'm guessing it's something to do with Qt, but it's quite a ways into the make when this happens, everything else goes off without a hitch. I'd appreciate any help - I can't find anyone else with this error. - Sep 23 2003
