Same problem. Put "VLC Resume Media V3.lua" in VLC/Contents/MacOS/share/lus/extensions/ where the VLSub.luac extension also is.
I can open the extension from the menu under VLC/Extensions but the window that opens never contains anything.
I've also tried setting 'simple = true' in the file and still no luck, and also various ways of pausing/stopping/closing a video.
