Sorry, I can't reproduce this issue on my own system. I'm using Unity on Ubuntu 15.10 and the current version of the theme only modifies the window titlebars and Unity shell theme; no GTK changes yet. How does your system behave with the original Ambiance theme? - Nov 04 2015

Both of these will eventually be addressed. If you want the original Ambiance theme back, simply uninstall this one until I get a new name set in the theme files; also, I will finish the GTK+3 modifications first before porting them over to GTK+2. Thanks for the feedback! - Nov 01 2015

For the maze effect, I used GIMP's maze generator under Filters > Render > Pattern > Maze. This maze was placed into its own layer, where I used Colors > Color to Alpha to remove one color, and also used Filters > Light and Shadow > Xach-Effect for a slight 3D effect. Finally, I turned down the maze layer's opacity until it looked good.

Yes, there's still an issue with the background color for unselected Firefox tabs / GTK+3 toolbars where it's too dark. I want to make these areas medium gray eventually so they look more like Ubuntu Touch apps. This will take some time, however. - May 14 2013
This theme is branched from light-themes trunk, so it will only work on Ubuntu 13.04 and newer (as well as any system which uses the same version of GTK+3). - May 13 2013
This theme is meant to be similar to a mockup someone else made, as well as retain some features from the old Ambiance. I likely won't make a version with squared borders, though it shouldn't be too difficult for someone else to make (the metacity-theme-1.xml file is the place to look for anybody interested). - May 13 2013

The color scheme is meant to work well with FS Icons Ubuntu and Ubuntu itself, which is how we settled upon dark gray / orange. But it also goes well with other setups, too.

A blue variant named Salience Sky is also in the works (and actually ready for use), but we're not distributing it until the necessary packaging is taken care of. You're welcome to bzr branch it and use it, however. - Dec 02 2012

Are you using Firefox? If so, it's a known issue with dark themes in general, which unfortunately we might not be able to do much about: https://bugs.launchpad.net/salience/+bug/1025902

Try Chrome(ium) or Midori and see if that fixes anything. They play more nicely with GTK+ than Firefox does. - Dec 01 2012

Thanks for the feedback! We decided to keep the thin scrollbars in Firefox and Thunderbird for visual consistency with the overlay scrollbars used elsewhere in Ubuntu. It was thought that the prevalence of alternative scrolling methods like scrollwheels made wider scrollbars unnecessary. We may re-evaluate this in future versions, however. That's probably because I am using the unstable development version of the icons from a ppa. You can add this ppa to your system by entering in a terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fs-icons-ubuntu/unstable
sudo apt-get update
