If so, then there are 2 ways to edit it's color:
1) Open /path_to/elementary EM/gtk-2.0/gtkrc and edit value of
gtk_color_scheme = "fm_color:#EBEBEB"
(line 9) to what you desire - however, this will affect more than just the sidebar.
2) Open /path_to/elementary EM/gtk-2.0/nautilus.rc and modify colors used in style "nautilus-sidebar" = "theme-thin" (lines 1-43) and style "nautilus-sidebar-title" (lines 53-97). Simply put, change @fm_color to the color you like.
This way, you'll affect only sidebar and it's header. - Sep 06 2010

Is it possible to adjust lightborder, contrast, roundness etc. per widget? Customization from GUI is pretty limited. - Jun 23 2010

QtCurve by CraigD 2890 comments
Ways to reproduce:
1)
- enable Genera >Etch entries and scrollviews
- enable Scrollviews > Highlight on focus
2)
- enable Genera >Etch entries and scrollviews
- disable Scrollviews > Highlight on focus
3)
- disable Genera >Etch entries and scrollviews
- disable Scrollviews > Highlight on focus
It works fine when you:
- disable Genera >Etch entries and scrollviews
- enable Scrollviews > Highlight on focus
Occurred in KDE 4.4.4, QtCurve-KDE4 1.4.3, Kid3 1.4.
It's only happening with QtCurve. Terminal doesn't give any messages. - Jun 21 2010

To get matching Metacity theme, install elementary GTK theme (also called eGTK), which has Metacity theme included (last link in download section). - May 09 2010

Steppers in scrollbars are not centered correctly, when you give slider-width other value than 9 or 13.
Also, as someone already said - toolbar doesn't react properly when menubar is not present above it and it will always have highlight. Also, toolbar doesn't react to
GtkToolbar::shadow-type = GTK_SHADOW_NONE - Apr 17 2010

I wasn't talking about menu itself, but menu-items. Equinox generates light borders around them, which are getting darker at the bottom of menu-item. Take a look at this screenshot:
http://omploader.org/vNDJrNA
It looks fine, when you use certain colour (like the one you used in Equinox Radiance) or very dark shade, like this one:

I just started to make theme on it.
There is one thing that bothers me: light border around menu-item. It makes menu-item look strange when it's colour is not dark or light enough. Such border gives an illusion of vertical asymmetry.
It would be nice if themer could disable such border (selected menu-item would look similar to Aurora's). - Apr 04 2010

I will think about emerald, but it seems pointless - you can use Openbox instead of Metacity in GNOME easily. - Jan 12 2010
I've modified your Metacity theme and included it in suite's package and included you in authors. Hope you don'mind.
Do you know how to make buttons for windows in unfocused state? Right now, they are the same, but they should be invisible in unfocused windows. Also, I can't figure it out how to push title more to the left... - Dec 30 2009

Personally, I use GNOME-wise (from GNOME-Colors) icons and they work well with this theme. However, it's true that finding really good icons set for this is hard. - Nov 19 2009

No, I won't make Metacity theme. However, you can use XFWM4 or PekWM in GNOME. Instructions of how you can replace Metacity with XFWM4 are included with theme.
--------------------------------------
Emmanuele Massimi posted in PekWM site a way to use PekWM under GNOME:
For now you can use PekWM in Gnome by editing the windowmanager value in Gconf:
open gconf-editor and go to /desktop/gnome/session/required_components and change the value of "windowmanager" from metacity to pekwm.
Then you need to create a desktop entry for PekWM in /usr/share/applications (or wherever your distro puts your .desktop files).
Restarting the session should bring up a Gnome + PekWM session.
Of course this is not a really elegant solution, since it doesn't allow replacing PekWM with another WM, without killing it (i.e. the "--replace" flag you find in WMs like Metacity won't work). - Nov 04 2009

Well, rounded version supposed to be that way and I'm not sure if making third version which is rounded-but-not-too-much would make sense :D
However, changing roundness is easy task. Just open gtkrc file in theme directory and search for roundness option (there should be several of them, each for different widget) and change its value (range from 0 to 8, integer only). the same goes for panel.rc. - Nov 02 2009

Well, PekWM is a primary target for me (at least for now).
This is my first Emerald theme. I must admit that theming it is OK (compared to horrible Metacity). - Aug 21 2009

Actually I hadn't planed to port this to Emerald. I wanted to make Flora XFWM4 theme but I don't think that's possible.
Since I don't make Metacity themes (not fun) I did one (three, actually :D ) for Emerald, so more people can use it (PekWM is still not much popular). - Aug 21 2009

But there's another way to write spaces in file path:
"\ " - without quotes, it means just space.
"\" probably is some kind of sign that there will be special characters after it.
I can even mix "\ " with normal spaces when I write path in pekwm conifg file, and it works. - Aug 09 2009
