Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by ipv4 223 comments

I disagree with you, and agree with the author of this program. kleardock/smoothdock dropped out of sight. I'm guessing due to the author having other things to do.
The problem with osX-bar that I have to run superKaramba with it. superkaramba eats up a lot of memory on my machine and after all that osX bar doesn't even run nicely.
And as for kxdocker, there's very little to no documentation. there's no feedback from the author and having tried it myself I find it not usable at all on my Duron 1.1 Ghz. (it's too slow with the zooming, etc.) - Apr 21 2004
KXDocker with REAL transpancy

I mistakenly pressed "Save"
Here are more things :

Provide some sort of README and INSTALL file: A lack of a README file leaves the user hanging. I know this is open source, but one of the most important things about software programming is taking the users into account. Here you have left "clues" for us as to what to do.
Make your generic xml file, generic. You have hardcoded references to your own icon directories, which does not help me much. Isn't there a default directory you could use. Maybe, ~/.kde/share/icons or something.

Provide some instructions about the theme files you've included. I tried to modify the XML file, but without proper documentation I could only guess as to what each of the fields actually stood for.

I realize, the author of the program says he will not be reading the comments from the site and he'd rather read emails, but I thought other people might find this useful.

You've done a nice job, but I think your project still needs a lot of polish. The zooming is very unsmooth, and the bouncing effect is quite slow.

I know, this all sounds like negative criticism, but I think every good app has its weak points. You're on the right track though.

good job. - Apr 06 2004

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by syagin 7 comments

I understand your point, but you could think of the mentioned X as the one from "X"Windows.

I know, it's not a good reason to use the Mac icons. But some people like the sleek look of the icons. I personally prefer the good ol' everaldo icons. - Apr 06 2004

I don't know why, but after downloading kxdocker-0.3 it compiles fine.
But I have a problem with the program itself. Image zooming is not smooth at all, and is very choppy. Is there a setting that I have to fix in the xml file? - Feb 28 2004

I'm comipiling on slackware 9.1 with kde 3.2 and qt 3.2.3 and I'm getting an error :

xeplugin_animator.cpp: In member function `void
xeplugin_animator.cpp:106: `usleep' undeclared (first use this function)
xeplugin_animator.cpp:106: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
for each function it appears in.)

make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Any ideas?

I just compiled it under slackware 9.1
here's my specs.
ksambaplugin version : 0.5
kde release : 3.2.0
qt version : 3.2.3
didn't have any problems.

Your error might be specific to your installation. - Feb 26 2004
SuperKaramba TuxBar with SMOOTH zoom

Karamba & Superkaramba by ageitgey 74 comments

I don't know if I've overlooked any config issues or what, but the bar doesn't show up at all.
It's just there as a hidden thing!!

I've tried changing the picture paths to absolute path and also tried just running the original. Neither worked.

So, here's what i think may be the problem : What is SuperKaramba, and how is different from the karamba by Hans Klarsson ?
