XMMS Skins by CGP-Saint-OP 14 comments

Simple, clean, dark, and easy to read. This is a very nice skin, thank you. However, for the sake of uniformity, might it make more sense to offer it as a zip file (aren't default XMMS skins .zip)?

This is a perfect skin though, and a nice addition to KDE-Look (you rarely see skins for particular apps on here). - Dec 17 2004

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by Oryx 7 comments

Haha..."all the anger that's inside them". I'm sorry, that's retarded.

If you ask me, it's just a gimmick. Their sound certainly isn't that "angry".

GTK-QT Theme Engine

GTK1 Themes by davidsansome 280 comments

Well, I've installed the gtk-qt engine (using the Mdk 10 rpm) and it works perfectly within KDE. Unfortunately, once I quit KDE, and attempt to start it again, it hangs (right before the splash screen). The only way around it that I've found is to remove the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 when starting kde.
Is there a trick to this, am I missing something or am I just all screwed up?

Thanks a bunch! - Jul 31 2004

Not to detract from this lovely app, but another alternative (specific to XMMS) is to get the "Status Docklet Plugin" ( and configure kicker to only display minimized programs.

Although, having only minimized applications show up in kicker is a bit annoying. Thank you for this lovely fix. - Jul 26 2004

Anyone else think it's funny that this wallpaper is on here?

For those that don't know: LAS Linux is a live bootable (ala Knoppix) distribution. The funny part? It's a bare-bones system...which doesn't include KDE. Oh well, it's a nice wallpaper, I'm just splitting hairs. ;] - Jul 02 2004

It seems when I have Baghira on, my kicker "Icon Zooming" goes completely nuts (if the mouse cursor touches anywhere on the kicker, some icons zoom in and out). Dunno if this is a bug with Baghira, or just something with my system.

This is truly a lovely theme. Thank you. - Jun 20 2004

Hah...too funny. You get my "good" vote. I love this band...but I'm not sure if I like them because they're so over-the-top ridiculous, or because they're actually quite skilled. I guess it's a mix.

Anyways, good job.

Dolphin Service Menus by Mamooth 23 comments

This is a good idea. XMMS would be near-perfect if there were only a decent "minimize to tray" option. This is certainly a step in the right direction.

However, is the install script meant to be run as root, or as a single user (or either)?

If it's meant to be root, it seems adding this to the install script may help:

if (test "$USERNAME" != "root")
echo Should be run as root.
exit 1

I really like this image. Easy on the eyes and a very beautiful color.

My one suggestion though: The text is a bit too light to read and a bit too bold to ignore. Could you possibly add a text-free version?
You also may want to have one where the text is a bit less subtle. - Just my $.02, take it or leave it ;] - Feb 12 2004

On my goodness! This is the most amazing wallpaper I've ever seen! This is truly a masterpiece. Incredible work. Keep it up!

Oh wait, I was just kidding... Too blurry, makes my eyes bleed. Distracting text on wallpapers = annoyance. Preachy crap = wrong place for it.

I wouldn't think it'd be terribly difficult to write a frontend for something like console-SETI@Home (or similar project). Link here:
Starting a client from scratch would be a bit much, I'd think (especially considering the efforts put into similar GPL'ed projects).

This is a great idea and I'd love to see this materialize. Although I have little familiarity with python and karamba, I'd love to learn and possibly lend a hand. - Jan 15 2004

The cubist look is just a bit too "busy" for me, although I appreciate the concept.

One minor quarrel though: The text is certainly too low for anyone using Kicker in it's default (bottom) position. I think this wallpaper would be a bit more fitting if the text would be raised to accommodate a "medium" sized kicker panel, or even higher. - Dec 09 2003

Thanks a ton! I agree, of course one reason I like it so much now is because it's so very different. It'd be nice to see this evolve into something possibly more complex, but this could be a start of something great (at least this is the first time I've seen something like this...). - Dec 04 2003
