Same problem for me on two different Kubuntu 7.04 machines. Keep worked fine on Opensuse 10.2 before.

Any ideas what the error messages tells us and how Keep can be convinced to work?

Thanks,

Congrats for this great app! Finally I found an easy-to-use successor for good old unison.
Apart from the hourly backup problem (see previous page), I have one suggestion for you: Would it be possible to reduce the task priority at which rdiff-backup runs on scheduled backups? So far, my system becomes very slow and almost unusable during a backup. This is especially true when the backup takes place during KDE startup: The startup sequence won't continue before the backup is finished - which means waiting for several minutes. - Jun 13 2006

I can confirm this problem, too! Keep 0.3.0 on Suse 10.0.
I have the impression that the problem only occurs on some days, while on others there are no hourly backups. Strange! - Jun 13 2006

Hi Kovid,

seems it introduced a new bug for me. I Just installed v1.1.0 -> SKopete stalls with the "loading your contacts" message. My PyKDE is v3.11.3, PyQT is 3.14.1 - I figured these are the latest versions.
Could you send me v1.0.4 via e-mail if you still have it somewhere? I skipped that one...
Let me know if I can help debug somehow.

Thanks again for your great support! It is awesome to see a new version of SKopete almost every day. Hats off!

Hi Kovid, here we go:

qt/KXMLGUIClient-KActionCollection/viewMetaContactHistory
qt/kopete/KopeteContactList/unnamed1(Kopete::MetaContact, 0x8254cd8)
qt/kopete/KopeteContactList/unnamed1(Kopete::MetaContact, 0x8254cd8)/unnamed1(MSNContact, 0x83a4f78)
qt/kopete/KopeteContactList/unnamed1(Kopete::MetaContact, 0x8254cd8)/unnamed2(ICQMyselfContact, 0x833b490)

Let me know if I can be of any help. - Jan 14 2006

He he, I love to chat with myself! ;-)

Just kidding, of course I don't have myself as a contact in Kopete - just SKopete lists my MSN screen name as a buddy, don't ask me why.

If I don't exclude it from the SKopete buddies, SKopete crashes with the "ICQMyself" error reported above. - Jan 13 2006

Hi Kovid, so far Kopete hasn't asked me to add you to my buddies. Have you tried?

Anyway, I kind of "solved" the problem now: Since v1.0.2 I can access the config dialog which listed my MSN (not ICQ!) identity as a buddy. So I removed myself from the monitored contacts and now the crash-error reported above is gone.

Very strange, hope this helps if someone else has the same problem. - Jan 13 2006

Hi Peter, I am running approximately the same config. I can only see those contacts (includes ICQ ones) that are *not* linked to KAddressbook entries (see my post directly above yours). Might this, too, be the case with your buddies? - Jan 13 2006

Hi Kovid,
thanks for your offer, but I found the reason for contacts not appearing in SKopete: as soon as a Kopete contact is linked to a KAddressbook entry ("Address Book Link" in features dialog) it does not show up in SKopete anymore.
I just reproduced this: I added one of the contacts from Kopete that would show up in SKopete to his address book entry -> "Reload this theme" for SKopete -> boom, contact is gone from the list.
Let me know if you can reproducce this behaviour. And, again, thanks so much for your great support!

Hi! First of all a big THANK YOU for version 1.0.2. - it solves my "not being able to run configure dialog" problem reported earlier this week.

Now I have a new one, though: In the configure dialog, I can only choose between 10 different contacts to be displayed, although I have 30 contacts in Kopete's list. I could not find a pattern as to which contacts are in-/excluded in SKopete's list. Without any contact selected for display, you said SKopete would show all online-contacts. This, too, does not work for contacts that don't appear in the list of 10.

Hope this is my last problem before I can fully deploy your awesome app! - Jan 12 2006

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! With your information, I have conducted some more experiments. What usually happens is the following:
1. I can see only one of my online contacts in SKopete, although several of my contacts are online.
2. Upon reloading SKopete ("Reload" in context menu) it throws an error message:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/tobi/.kde/share/apps/superkaramba/themes/32677-skopete-1.0.1.skz/skopete.py", line 470, in widgetUpdated
File "/home/tobi/.kde/share/apps/superkaramba/themes/32677-skopete-1.0.1.skz/skopete.py", line 443, in update
File "/home/tobi/.kde/share/apps/superkaramba/themes/32677-skopete-1.0.1.skz/skopete.py", line 314, in sync
File "/home/tobi/.kde/share/apps/superkaramba/themes/32677-skopete-1.0.1.skz/skopete.py", line 200, in __init__
KeyError: ICQMyself
Now I myself appear in the list twice, Karamba eats up 15% of my CPU until I close SKopete. ICQ is offline at that moment (appears in error message).
To come back to my original problem, the config dialog is not accessible in any of these states.

System is Suse10.0 with KDE3.5

Let me know if you have any idea. If not I'll give up, seems to be quite weird... - Jan 11 2006

I would love to use this amazing plugin. However, I cannot access the config dialog. Everytime I select "Configure Skopete...", my HDD will work for a few secs, but nothing happens. PyQT and PyKDE are installed, as well as SK0.37.
The plugin itself works fine (switching kopete from offline to online etc.), but without the contacts showing it's quite useless.

Any ideas how I could access the config dialog? Or is there a way to add contacts manually to some config file?
