Thanks for reporting that!

I don't have drivers for the wireless card

so I'm not experiencing that problem myself
but I will look into it and update package
as soon as I got it figured out :)

And thanks for suggesting other colors :)

I might do that when I have the time.

Just select SlicknesS(golden) in theme manager

Thank you again!!

I can see the results are very good indeed :)
Just one minor thing:
the "fusion-icon" seems to have non-transparent background?
Or maybe it's my eyes....

Anyway, you used my custompanel.rc to get those results or did you do some "hacking" yourself?

If so, how did you do it?

//Robert - Jan 07 2008
SlicknesS

GTK2 Themes by TheRob 522 comments

Yes, that's the point,
I removed the panel background image
so you can specify it in panel properties
and it will change the whole panel to
that image and not leave untransparent
areas in the panel.

hope you understand what I mean :)

//Robert - Jan 07 2008
SlicknesS

GTK2 Themes by TheRob 522 comments

I have now created a new panel rc file
custompanel.rc
if you open the gtkrc file and where it
says:

include "panel.rc"

just change that to

include "custompanel.rc"

(it's in the beginning of the gtkrc file)

very easy to find :)

that allows you to set a panel background trough the panel properties
and the whole panel will become transparent!

at least this way you get transparent panel.

//Robert - Jan 06 2008

GTK2 Themes by TheRob 522 comments

I'm not sure what you mean now,
you mean you are trying to get transparent
panel on windows xp?

If you mean gnome then yes, it becomes white if I make transparent panel and use
it in the gtkrc file.

you can see some parts of the panel in the
picture is still not transparent,
you can tamper with the panel.rc file
and try to uncomment some lines there
since you have manually selected the transparent panel background in the panel properties (not sure but I assume so)
then it's pretty safe to uncomment the
parts where it says class "something" style "something"...
well, I don't know , I could try something
myself if you want me to?

anyway , good luck on your research!!

Seems that you have done a good job modding
my theme :D

I like the new minimize button but it seems to be a little whiter than the others :) anyway , that is the only thing :D

Btw the theme don't require murrine engine
anymore , I just forgot to remove that from my page :)

Keep modding!!

I feel your pain about compiz not working for you! :(

I included transparent button and panelbackground
for you in the package (it was a so minor change I didn't
feel the need to announce updated)

I might be wrong but without compiz
you only get the panel composited to desktop
wallpaper, so if you for example drag a
window behind the panel it wont show
(it will if using compiz)

whatever... I might be wrong :)

As for this not working right with mint
I don't understand , since mint is based
on ubuntu, did some of the previous versions of the theme work for you with
those specifik settings?
and be sure to have latest version of pixmap engine.

I am working on golden version yes but
going reeaaaallly slooooow (I don't know
, I can't seem to get it to look the way
I want)

Glad you like the menu button!

I use a window manager called "compiz-fusion"
that gives me possibility of transparent
panels, windows, menus.... pretty much everything :D

I am working on a gold version at the moment,
when I have time I will try to do a darker
version too :)

It's very good you posted on debian-admin,
since many new linux (gnome) users don't know how to change the look of the panel!

The panel is not supposed to look like that...

Hmmm, that really is strange indeed,
however I don't think it's a problem with the
theme, since it's working fine for me
Maybe with the iconset... I don't know,
try this one:

if that solves the problem then it's probably
the icons :)

If you like the standard window borders theme
better than the alternative version, just
select window borders theme standard and

Thanks guys!!!

I am really very happy you like my theme!!!

The bar on the right is a program called conky
It shows system information, you can get it here:
http://conky.sourceforge.net/

As for the menu button (the one with the foot on)
do what sjaakmans said and then open gconf-editor
(press alt+f2 and type gconf-editor and press enter)
then in the gconf-editor click on apps
and navigate to panel and then objects
and then look for a object with type
menu-object and click the "use custom icon"
box, and then put this in the line where it
says custom icon:
/home/USERNAME/.themes/SlicknesS/gtk-2.0/panel/panel-button-menu.png
(replace username with your username)
and the new menuicon should appear :)

Thanks again!!

I actually haven't made the minimize maximize close buttons yet, I just re-used the ones from my last theme (NoName) , I will make those when I have the time and creativity, as for the menu indicators, I made those to version 0.2 (it's 0.3 now) , try to dload the theme again and install and log out and in (if I understood you correctly about the indicators this should fix the problem) :)

Thanks!

I'm on gnome myself and if I set the
class "*Panel*" to use panel style then it will break the standard shutdown dialog and the launcher editor (they will use panel background and panel buttons , so it is impossible to read when it's black text on black) the stuff I declared in the panel.rc I did so that those two things would work also :)

too bad it didn't in xfce :(

as for releasing this as I theme, I will when it's ready, it's still version 0.2 and there are some very ugly stuff to take care of in this theme and I'm sure there are thousands of bugs too :)
Thanks for the nice tutorial thou :D
