they're ok, but i have a few suggestions for your otherwise excellent theme:

redo the "K" on the K-Menu icon, it just looks out of place. Parhaps not such a dark lining around it? Maybe a creamier glare to it? I dunno. Also, the new toolbar icons are nice, but they kinda look funny when half of the icons on your toolbar follow the new theme, and the other half look like the default, so you'd definitely better finish up there :)

I did enjoy the old toolbar icons though, but I don't see what's wrong with the default KDE ones for up, forward, back... in fact, i think those ones are better than yours, but your refresh looks better than the default. Remember, you don't have to change EVERYTHING!

Anyway, keep up the good work! Bring these up to the point where the KDE people just give in and include them defaultly :-) - Oct 26 2001

I'm sorry to point out that many users that would like to be converted are discouraged by the vast amount of differences between the two environments (linux and windows). Giving them icons that are familiar can only help them. I would say we'll also need one for WinXP icons... unless M$ begins to sue every clone out there that is... :) - Oct 26 2001

Hello,
I installed your beautiful theme and it does'nt look as cute as your screenshot does.

The kicker bar and the menu are different. Maybe other things differ, but those are the most obvious.

thanks anyway for that beautiful theme.

Hi NewMouse, I like your work, but maybe it is not the best solution to put dotted backgrounds everywhere (menus, window backgrounds and toolbars). This makes text almost unreadable. Your previous styles are much better and cleaner. Keep up with good work :) - Oct 26 2001

Various KDE 1.-4. Styles by pablorg 3 comments

Liquid widget style looks quite good (Okay, the default button could be blue and the normal ones not...). But The Liquid window style is ugly. In my opinion, a very OS-X-like style would look better. Currently I'm using an IceWM Mac OS X window style, but it hasn't got transparency for inactive windows.
Could somebody improve the Liquid window style? - Oct 26 2001

This is great---one of the very few very usable, practical and asthetically pleasing complete themes.

One request: Any chance for mouse-over effects for widgets (optionally, perhaps). I don't know if the original QNX had mouse-overs, but I think mouse-over effects are cool. :)

Thanks for the great theme. - Oct 25 2001

Text is very nice, you've chosen right colours. If you want to make it less visible use semitransparent layers (Gimp). But, I like it also this way - very, very nice work.

ABSOLUTELY , TEE-TOTALLY IMPRESSIVE!!! Wow, I just installed 0.2.1 and I'm blown away. Min/Max animation works, menu "stickiness across desktops" fixed, and and dramatically improved, awesome looking Kicker style! I like how the grips on the various Kicker applets match the grips on the toolbars - very nice touch, adds consistency. The taskbar applet looks much better, especially he buttons (fixed in 0.2.0, I think). Two things I would work on before releasing: 1) the bottom- and right side- bevel on the taskbar applet - they don't appear sunken; 2) a "question-mark button" in the window frame decoration. Maybe QNX doesn't have one, but KDE does, it's used, and all good themes should include it. Superb job! Well, it's off to take some screen snapshots and make my buddies jealous, he he he.... :o) Cheers, Ty - Oct 25 2001

Windows 2000 is very nice and professional looking. So is GNOME. I think KDE acts/feels the best of the lot of 'em. I just don't like KDE's cartoonish look. Let's make KDE look more like a Professional KDE. I love the Windows 2000 color scheme (tan widgets/skin) - I'm using it right now with the QNix style. I love GNOME's photo-realistic icons. I get the impression Tackat (KDE's art coordinator, or something to that effect) is oppopsed to photo-realistic icons, opting more for symbolic icons. I think that is the right approach, but please let's no have them come from Toon Town. - Oct 25 2001

Following that logic, would then it be okay if you were to go up to somebody and say, "You are ugly"? It is your opinion and you have a right to express it. But would you express it in that case? It's not necessary to do that, maybe even destructive. Rather, just ignore that aspect of the person that you personally don't like and appreciate them for what you find to be positive qualities. Getting back to the issue at hand, there is already enough Windows-like/Aqua-like flaming. I think it is expressed very much already that some would rather have artists spend their time on 'original' work instead of porting other looks. That's an okay opinion, and one I myslf share to some extent - I had the Aqua craze for awhile, then I decided I wanted KDE to look like KDE and not Aqua or XP. But I don't think it is necessary to repeat that opinion *every time* someone posts a MS- or Mac- inspired theme. I personally don't want my own machine to look like XP or Aqua, but I still think this style is clean and well done. I think we're arguing over the same thing here. :o) But you are right, I too. would like to see more KDE-centric styles and themes myself. I would suggest taking the XP menus form this style, make the highlight 3D like it in the default style, mix it with default KDE 3D widgets, and you have a winner! It takes the best from XP and KDE to make somthing very nice that's not a direct or close copy of Whistler/Luna.Aqua, etc. Cheers, Ty (author of RE: Nooo) - Oct 25 2001

how about, some people like KDE and like to experiment with the looks of other desktops. Maybe they like the way XP or Aqua looks, but like the way KDE behaves. KDE is excellent, and there is a lot of originality out there, and there's also a lot of reuse of other desktops. It all boils down to a wider range of available looks and greater configurability, and that seems good to me. - Oct 25 2001
